Diamondbacks' Adam Loewen: Designated for assignment
Adam Loewen was designated for assignment by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday.Loewen pitched well outside of a couple blowups, but Sunday's outing -- five runs over just a third of an inning -- was enough for his run in the Diamondbacks' bullpen to end. If he clears waivers, Loewen could end up either in the minors or a free agent.

Diamondbacks' Adam Loewen: Records out in loss
Adam Loewen pitched one-third of an inning Friday, giving up a hit and a walk in Triple-A Reno's 8-6 loss to El Paso. The fourth overall pick of the 2002 draft is coming off a rocky spring training that saw him give up seven hits, a walk, and four earned runs in 2.2 innings. Loewen pitched 19.1 innings last year and compiled a 6.98 ERA, which is not too far off from the 5.55 ERA he's produced in 183.1 innings between Baltimore and Philadelphia in his major league career. Given the left-hander's poor major league track record, he will likely be relegated to the minors in 2016, but if a need arises in the Arizona bullpen, he could see a promotion.

Phillies RP Adam Loewen picks up first win of season Tuesday
Philadelphia Philliesreliever Adam Loewen (1-0) got one out in the form of a fifth-inning strikeout to pick up the victory in a 2-1 win over the New York Mets on Tuesday. The 31-year old was the beneficiary of an easy win Tuesday, as he happened to be on the mound to close out the fifth inning. Loewen has provided some uneven performances out of the Phillies bullpen, but has settled down some in September. The hard-throwing southpaw has lowered his still-inflated ERA during the month from 9.00 to 7.79, with scoreless appearances in six out of his last eight outings.
