Joaquin Arias was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, Diamondbacks broadcaster Steve Berthiaume reports.A non-roster invitee to spring training, the 31-year-old Arias probably needed an injury or two in front of him to have a real shot at the Opening Day roster. Little-used Giants SS Joaquin Arias enjoys three-hit Tuesday
San Francisco Giants shortstop Joaquin Arias did not score a run Tuesday night. Nor did he drive one in. But it's not his fault that the two batters before him in the lineup were hitless in eight at-bats or that nobody got him home. The infrequently used Arias did his job to the tune of three singles in three at-bats, all against Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw. He has four hits in the last two games, catapulting his average from .143 to .316.
