Yuniesky Betancourt heading to Japan
Free-agent infielder Yuniesky Betancourt has reached an agreement with the Orix Buffaloes in Japan, FOX Sports reports. Betancourt reportedly drew interest from multiple teams during the offseason, but his move to Japan could possibly mean he couldn't find a guaranteed major-league offer. He hit .212/.240/.355 with 13 home runs and 46 RBI in 391 at-bats with the Brewers last season.

Marlins inquire about Yuniesky Betancourt
The Miami Marlins have inquired about free-agent infielder Yuniesky Betancourt, the Miami Herald reports. If signed, Betancourt would likely start at third base for the Marlins. Betancourt's agent said that his client would have interest in playing in Miami, but he did not comment on the team's reported interest. Milwaukee Brewers infielder Yuniesky Betancourt homered Friday in a 10-5 win at Seattle. Betancourt belted a grand slam off Joe Saunders in the fifth inning with one out. His 13th home run of the season put the Brewers up 9-2 at the time. He finished 1 for 5 in the game with two runs scored and four driven in. He has 42 RBI on the season to go with his .209 average.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Yuniesky Betancourt went 4 for 5 with his 10th home run of the season in his team's 10-8 loss to the Padres Thursday. Betancourt entered the game 5 for 30 in July and just 12 for 91 since the beginning of June. With the big performance, Betancourt lifts his line to .209/.237/.353 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI in 278 at-bats.

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Yuniesky Betancourt continues to be a mess at the plate offensively in June. Betancourt managed a single in three at-bats Sunday against the Reds, but it was his 13th straight game without multiple hits. Betancourt is batting .135 (5 for 37) with one triple, two doubles and three RBI in 13 June games (nine starts). After homering six times and hitting .280 in 24 April games, Betancourt is batting .175 with two homers in 40 games since May 1. His batting average has declined to .215.

Betancourt had actually went hitless in six of his seven games heading into Thursday. The solid performance gives him a .239/.268/.455 line with eight home runs in 142 plate appearances. He'll attempt to build upon Thursday's game when the team faces the Cardinals this weekend.
