  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

    Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Sits Friday

Ramirez is not in Friday's lineup against the Royals.

Ramirez is hitting .244 with three home runs and 13 strikeouts over his last 10 games. Magneuris Sierra will start in center field while Lewis Brinson shifts to right field.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: On base four times in win

Carpenter went 2-for-3 with an RBI infield single, two walks and a run in a win over the Giants on Thursday.

Carpenter was all the way down in the No. 7 spot in the order, but that didn't stop him from turning in one of his more well-rounded outings. The veteran has shown slight improvement at the plate since the latter part of August, raising his average nine points across the last 11 games. However, his season line currently sits at .221/.332/.371, with all three figures qualifying as the lowest of his career outside of his initial seven-game big-league cup of coffee back in 2011.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Could see playing time dip

Dickerson (oblique), who is not in Thursday's lineup against the Cardinals, could lose out on playing time over the rest of the season following the promotion of Jaylin Davis.

The 29-year-old has been a productive hitter this season with the Giants, hitting .308/.374/.579 with six home runs in 46 games, but he is not a great defender. Davis, on the other hand, is only 25 years old and has more long-term upside. While Davis hits right-handed, it seems unlikely that the Giants would have called him up this month if they only intended on giving him starts against lefties, and indeed, he is starting in right field against a righty in Thursday's game. It's also worth noting that Dickerson's oblique is still bothering him, per Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News. The outfielder said he hasn't felt right since returning from the injured list in August, though a recent MRI came back clean.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Blasts two home runs

Pederson went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI in a 7-3 win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Pederson hit a leadoff home run to start the game and added a two-run shot in the fourth inning. Pederson has hit five home runs in his last three games, including an impressive stretch where he blasted five in six at-bats. Pederson is hitting .245/.336/.535 with 32 home runs and 67 RBI through 129 games this season.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Back in action

Pederson (abdomen) is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Manager Dave Roberts expected Pederson to return Wednesday, and he will do just that after sitting out Tuesday with his abdominal bruise. Pederson will man right field and hit leadoff against Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela.

  • Alex Dickerson DH | ATL

Giants' Alex Dickerson: Could still be sore

Dickerson is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.

Dickerson's absence is notable because he will be held out against a right-handed starter for just the second time since returning from the injured list Aug. 16. Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle noted that Dickerson did not look comfortable during any of his at-bats in Tuesday's contest, so he may still be dealing with the effects of the oblique injury that landed him on the injured list in the first place. The Giants have not commented on Dickerson's health of late, but if he is indeed not 100 percent, that could mean more playing time for Jaylin Davis and Austin Slater the rest of the way.

  • Harold Ramirez DH | WAS

Marlins' Harold Ramirez: Held out Wednesday

Ramirez is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates, according to Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald.

Ramirez will be held out Wednesday in favor of fellow outfielder Magneuris Sierra. Ramirez started 11 of 12 games leading up to Wednesday's contest, so chances are he will be back in action for Thursday's series finale.

  • Matt Carpenter DH | STL

Cardinals' Matt Carpenter: Sitting yet again

Carpenter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Tommy Edman starts at third base for the third consecutive contest. Wednesday's game is against lefty Madison Bumgarner, but Carpenter's absences Monday and Tuesday were against righties. Manager Mike Shildt told FOX Sports Midwest in mid-August that Edman had "more than earned his opportunity to get out there and play every day," and it seems most of Edman's starts will come at Carpenter's expense. Carpenter is batting just .215/.325/.366 in 429 plate appearances this season.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Cardinals' Marcell Ozuna: Only source of offense

Ozuna went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

Ozuna's 393-foot shot to left in the sixth inning turned out to be the only run scored by either squad. The round tripper snapped a couple of dubious streaks for the veteran outfielder -- it marked his first home run since Aug. 23, while also helping end the 0-for-19 skid that had encompassed his prior five games.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Dodgers' Joc Pederson: Expected back Wednesday

Manager Dave Roberts said he expects Pederson (abdomen) to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Pederson was withheld from the starting nine in Tuesday's 5-3 win after bruising his abdominal area when he collided with the outfield wall in Monday's series opener. Roberts characterized Pederson's absence as precautionary, so assuming that he experiences no renewed soreness following the day off, the outfielder should slot back into the leadoff spot Wednesday.
