Perez was recalled from the Astros' taxi squad Sunday, Jake Kaplan of The Athletic reports.

With Lance McCullers (neck) landing on the IL, Perez was summoned back to the big-league club a day after he was sent packing. The lefty has made four appearances out of the Astros' bullpen this season, allowing one run on five hits and four walks while striking out six over 4.1 innings.

The Angels optioned Peters to their alternate training site Sunday.

Peters was called up to the big club ahead of Saturday's doubleheader with the Astros. He ended up getting the start for the second game of the twin bill and struggled over 1.2 innings, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits, two of which were home runs. Peters could be back up with the big club the next time the Angels require an extra starting pitcher.

Garcia is likely to be activated to start Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays in Buffalo, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Garcia has looked good in his two starts this season, allowing four earned runs and racking up a 12:2 K:BB over 10.2 innings. That is likely to earn him another turn in the rotation, with manager Aaron Boone suggesting Saturday that Garcia will next toe the mound for the finale of the upcoming three-game road series against Toronto. The contest could be an important one both for Garcia and the team -- the Yankees entered Sunday in a tie with the Blue Jays for second place in the AL East.

Chavez (toe) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Sunday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Chavez will take the roster spot of Joely Rodriguez (hamstring), who is done for the season. While Chavez was decent enough last year, he has struggled to an 8.74 ERA and 1.68 WHIP through 12 appearances this season, blowing three leads along the way. The 37-year-old is in the final year of his contract and this may be it for his major-league career.

Rodriguez (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The lefty strained his hamstring Saturday, and it's serious enough to end his campaign. Rodriguez finishes with a 2.13 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 17:5 K:BB and three holds in 12 appearances -- an impressive return stateside after a couple seasons pitching in Japan. Rodriguez is under contract with Texas through next year, with a team option for 2022.

Manaea (3-2) allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings to earn the win against the Padres on Saturday.

Manaea's season got off to a bit of a rough start, but he's since rebounded and has picked up wins in each of his last three outings. The southpaw got into a jam in the third inning Saturday when the Padres loaded the bases with one out, but he only allowed one run to come across. He has a 5.09 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 35.1 innings this season. Manaea will carry his winning streak into his next start at home Thursday against the Astros.

Littell (elbow) was activated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to the Twins' alternate site Sunday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Apparently Littell has turned the page after a bout of elbow inflammation, though he will have to wait a while yet before he gets another big-league opportunity. He didn't exactly make a strong case for a regular role in the Minnesota bullpen, posting a 9.95 ERA and 2.37 WHIP in his first six appearances this season.

Pressly was not available for Saturday's doubleheader, Richard Justice of MLB.com reports.

It was a tough day for manager Dusty Baker not to have Pressly available, as both games evolved into save situations. Without Pressly, who had thrown 49 pitches while pitching three of the previous four days, Baker was forced to go with unproven rookie relievers to close both games.

Pearson (elbow) threw off a mound Saturday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Pearson had been limited to throwing on flat ground, recently extending out to 120 feet. He's now cleared a major hurdle with his return to mound work, and pitching coach Pete Walker said Pearson looked "very strong" during the 26-pitch session, per Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic. The Blue Jays would obviously like to get Pearson back in some capacity this season; the righty may be hard pressed to make it back in a starting role before the end of September.

Peters didn't factor into the decision in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Astros. He allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits -- including two home runs -- while fanning two across 1.2 innings.

Peters was called up for the twin bill but didn't leave a good impression, recording just five outs before giving way to the bullpen. He only served as the extra man for the doubleheader and is unlikely to return to the MLB roster based on how he looked Saturday in his first MLB appearance in 2020.
