Fulmer was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte following Saturday's 15-2 loss to the Red Sox, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

Fulmer was the first man out of the bullpen Saturday and allowed five runs (three earned) on two hits and three walks while recording only one out. The 25-year-old had given up five runs over 10 innings entering Saturday but will now head back to Charlotte in favor of a fresh arm.

Treinen is experiencing right elbow discomfort and is set to be evaluated when the team returns to Oakland on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Treinen hasn't pitched since last Sunday, when he allowed four runs on five hits and two walks over 1.2 innings. It's unclear how long the elbow discomfort has been present, but it's a concerning issue for the Athletics, regardless.

Stanek will serve as the opener for Sunday's series finale against the Orioles, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Stanek was originally expected to open for Yonny Chirinos on Saturday, but Chirinos instead ended up being utilized as a traditional starter. Stanek has a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB through 16 innings this season.

VerHagen was designated for assignment by the Tigers after Saturday's loss to the Royals, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

VerHagen had a 7.20 ERA, 2.40 WHIP and 7:7 K:BB over five innings entering Saturday, and he then gave up six runs on five hits and three walks in one frame during the 15-3 loss. The 28-year-old could opt to become a free agent rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A, assuming he clears waivers.

Johnson (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Tuesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Johnson completed another bullpen session Saturday, clearing the way for him to face live hitters next week. The 28-year-old has been on the injured list since early April with left elbow inflammation and seems likely to remain there for at least a few more weeks as he rebuilds his arm strength.

Manaea (shoulder) will throw his first bullpen session of the season Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Manaea has been sidelined since September shoulder surgery but is reportedly targeting a return around the All-Star break. His timeline could be clarified once the Athletics see how his shoulder responds to bullpen sessions.

Adams was traded from the Nationals to the Mariners in exchange for minor-league pitcher Nick Wells and cash considerations Saturday.

Adams was available for cheap after being designated for assignment by the Nationals on Tuesday. He was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma immediately following the trade.

Loaisiga will temporarily move into the Yankees' rotation with James Paxton (knee) on the injured list, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Paxton's return timetable isn't yet clear, but he'll be shut down for 5-7 days, so it would hardly be surprising if he misses at least two starts. Loaisiga has yet to be promoted, but a move should come before Wednesday, when Paxton's spot is due up against the Mariners. Loaisiga has a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings for the Yankees this season.

Yarbrough is with the Rays on Saturday in anticipation of being activated Sunday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Yarbrough was sent to the minors in late April after stumbling to an 8.10 ERA in 16.2 innings. A 42.6 percent strand rate has a lot to do with that number, however, as his strikeout rate of 19.7 percent was within a percentage point of where it sat last season and his 5.6 percent walk rate was quite strong.

Smeltzer threw seven scoreless innings with three strikeouts in his debut Friday for Triple-A Rochester.

Smeltzer was promoted from Double-A Pensacola after striking out 33 and giving up two earned runs in 30 innings. He's a bit old for his level at 23, but he had a 9.4 K/9 last year in two stops at Double-A, having come over to the Twins from the Dodgers in the Brian Dozier trade in July.
