  • Ryan Garton RP | SEA

Mariners' Ryan Garton: Recalled from Triple-A

Garton was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday.

He is among a host of players summoned from Tacoma with rosters expanding. Look for him to pitch in low-leverage situations this month.

  • Michael Fulmer RP | NYY

Tigers' Michael Fulmer: To visit Dr. Andrews with elbow issue

Fulmer has had a recurrence of right elbow ulnar neuritis and will visit Dr. James Andrews next week, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.

This is pretty dire news for Fulmer, who has posted an uncharacteristic 6.15 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over his last seven starts. He should be considered out indefinitely, and in single-season leagues, it's reasonable to cut bait. Chad Bell will come up to take Fulmer's spot in the rotation Sunday and Artie Lewicki will be selected to start on Monday.

  • Brian Flynn RP | KC

Royals' Brian Flynn: Transferred to 60-day DL

Flynn (groin) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Friday.

This puts an end to Flynn's 2017 campaign. He only made one appearance with the big-league club this year and posted a 5.40 ERA and 50 strikeouts in 50 innings at Triple-A.

  • Jake Diekman RP | ATL

    Rangers' Jake Diekman: Officially activated

Diekman (abdomen) was activated from the 60-day disabled list Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

As expected, Diekman was reinstated with active MLB rosters expanding to 40 players Friday. The lefty showed no real ill effects while on his rehab assignment from the three separate surgeries he underwent earlier this year to repair and rebuild his colon, posting an 8:0 K:BB in 6.1 scoreless innings between Frisco and Round Rock. He should immediately step into a back-end role in the Texas bullpen.

  • Sam Moll RP | CIN

Athletics' Sam Moll: Promoted to Oakland

Moll was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.

A waiver acquisition from Colorado in mid-August, Moll turned in six scoreless appearances with Nashville after posting a 4.18 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate to begin the year. He will get his first big-league opportunity, but Moll is unlikely to pitch meaningful innings.

  • Orioles' Jimmy Yacabonis: Recalled from Triple-A

Yacabonis was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Yacabonis has logged 6.2 innings out of the big-league bullpen, and posted a 1.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 61.1 innings at Triple-A. He will be used primarily in low-leverage situations.

  • Ben Heller RP | CHC

Yankees' Ben Heller: Recalled from Triple-A

Heller was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

The 26-year-old righty has late-inning stuff, but he won't get such an opportunity in the loaded Yankees bullpen. He posted a 2.88 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 56.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Carson Fulmer RP | PIT

White Sox's Carson Fulmer: Recalled from Triple-A

Fulmer was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

This move makes sense with rosters expanding, as Fulmer is on the 40-man roster. However, he has a 5.79 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 96 strikeouts in 126 innings (25 starts) at Triple-A this year, so it's not as though Fulmer has earned a promotion. He figures to take on a bullpen role over the final month.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Activated from DL

Norris (groin) was activated from the DL on Friday.

He wasn't effective in Thursday's rehab start for Triple-A Toledo, giving up five runs on five hits and four walks in two innings, but the Tigers had no reason to keep him on the DL with rosters expanding. Look for him to start either Tuesday or Wednesday against the Royals. Norris has a 5.29 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 79 strikeouts in 85 innings in the big leagues this year.

  • Twins' Hector Santiago: Transferred to 60-day DL

Santiago (back) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Friday.

This does not impact when Santiago will return to the big-league rotation, as he will be eligible in the coming days, it simply opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Niko Goodrum, whose contract was selected as a corresponding move. Santiago is expected to make another rehab start for Triple-A Rochester on Sunday and could return to the rotation at some point in September.
