Jackson picked up the save against the Cardinals on Sunday, tossing a scoreless 10th inning and allowing one hit while striking out two.

Jackson rewarded the Braves for sticking with him despite blowing his previous two save opportunities, giving up only a two-out single and striking out Kolten Wong to wrap up the victory. His grasp on the closer role is tenuous -- he has blown four of his seven save opportunities -- but his ability to strike batters out (36 Ks in 27 innings) makes him a viable late-inning option.

Diaz allowed a hit and a walk but struck out the side to nail down his 13th save in a 4-3 victory against the Tigers on Sunday.

He looked a little shaky at times during the inning, but ultimately, Diaz bounced back nicely from his first blown save of the year. Keep in mind, though, his blown save came when he entered with runners on base in the eighth Saturday. Diaz has a 1.71 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 21 innings this season.

Rodriguez could enter the Giants' rotation Friday against the Orioles when a fifth starter is next required, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento earlier in the weekend for the purpose of giving the big club some length out of the bullpen. He aced his first relief appearance by keeping the Diamondbacks off the board Saturday with two perfect innings, but it's unclear if that performance was enough to vault him back into the rotation. The Giants' decision to turn to Rodriguez or someone else for Friday's start may ultimately be determined by whether or not he's needed in relief at any point during the Giants' upcoming three-game series in Miami.

Cabrera will be recalled from Triple-A Memphis to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.

Cabrera is set to make his big-league debut despite posting a 6.35 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with a 39:19 K:BB over 39.2 frames at Triple-A this season. If he is able to turn in a solid outing, there's a chance he could stick in the rotation for the time being.

Sewald cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Sewald was designated for assignment by the Mets on Wednesday but will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 29-year-old has a 4.82 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB through 18.2 innings with Syracuse this season.

With the Reds playing a doubleheader Monday against the Pirates, they could call Sims up for a spot start Tuesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The Reds haven't decided how to get through Tuesday's game -- it could be Sims, or it could be a bullpen day, as they're using both Luis Castillo and Sonny Gray on Monday. Sims has a 4.06 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 44.1 innings, with 63 strikeouts in that span. He has the advantage of being on the 40-man roster, unlike some of the Reds' alternatives in Double-A, like Tony Santillan.

Pivetta will be called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Pivetta and Vince Velasquez were both candidates to start Tuesday, but Pivetta will have the opportunity with the Phillies wanting to keep Velasquez in the bullpen. Pivetta struggled in his four outings in the majors this season with 17 runs allowed and a 16:8 K:BB over 18.1 innings, and has been at Triple-A since mid-April. The 26-year-old has fared much better at Lehigh Valley with a 3.41 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 12.2 K/9.

Coonrod was called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Coonrod has a 7.00 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB across 18 innings for the River Cats this season, but is now primed to make his major-league debut. The 26-year-old threw only 11.2 innings last season when he made his return from Tommy John surgery.

Suarez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Suarez had an ugly start Saturday in which he allowed nine runs (seven earned) over four innings, and now makes his way back to the minors. The Giants will look elsewhere for their fifth starter next weekend against the Orioles. The 26-year-old returns to Sacramento, where he has a 6.33 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB through six starts this season.

Suarez (0-2) took the loss Saturday, coughing up nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out two as the Giants fell 10-4 to the Diamondbacks.

The southpaw was in trouble from the jump, serving up a triple to Ketel Marte on the second pitch of the game, and things didn't get any better from there. Suarez gave the Giants a quality start his first time out this season, but this outing might cause the club to rethink whether he should remain in the rotation. If he does stick around, he'll next take the mound Friday in Baltimore.
