Stripling took a no-decision, allowing one run on two hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against the Rays on Saturday. He also struck out five.

Stripling continued his terrific recent stretch, limiting the Rays to a Manuel Margot home run before departing one out shy of a quality start. The veteran hurler has completely turned his season around, rattling off a 2.35 ERA across his last eight starts while losing just once. Prior to his current run, Stripling was winless and owned an ugly 7.20 ERA and 1.76 WHIP through his first six starts. Those marks now sit at 4.06 and 1.21, respectively, heading into next week's scheduled start against Tampa Bay.

Canning was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Canning allowed six runs on six hits and two walks in 2.2 innings against the Orioles on Friday, but his demotion still comes as a slight surprise since he had posted a 2.70 ERA in 16.2 innings in his three starts leading up to Friday's rocky outing. Manager Joe Maddon said the right-hander needs to work on his fastball command in the minors and could return to the Angels if he shows improvement, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Since the Angels have an off day Thursday, they plan to simply skip Canning's turn through the rotation ahead of the All-Star break.

Montgomery (3-3) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts over 4.1 innings.

Montgomery put zeroes on the board over the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth. He gave up three straight singles before walking in a run and giving way to reliever Lucas Luetge, who allowed two more of Montgomery's runners to score on a single and wild pitch. Montgomery, who has gone five straight starts without a win, is scheduled to face Seattle next week. He'll take a 4.17 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with an 86:26 K:BB into that outing.

Cortes will start the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Mets, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Michael King was an option to start Sunday's nightcap, but he pitched in relief during Saturday's loss. As a result, Cortes is on track to make his first start of the season. The southpaw has been dominant out of the bullpen since his contract was selected by the Yankees at the end of May, and he's posted a 1.02 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 17.2 innings across seven appearances.

Means (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Aberdeen on Sunday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Means has been out since June 6 due to a left shoulder strain, but he's made good progress recently and will begin a rehab stint Sunday. The Orioles are hopeful that the left-hander will be able to return to the major-league club shortly after the All-Star break, and a better idea of his status could be revealed based on how he feels following his rehab start. He's expected to throw 2-3 innings in his first appearance with High-A Aberdeen, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Seabold (elbow) threw a live batting practice session this week, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Elbow inflammation has kept the righty out of action since early May. Along with Tanner Houck (elbow), Seabold is one of two minor-league starting pitching options on Boston's 40-man roster. While he's not yet close to returning, Seabold may factor into the big-league pitching equation later this season for the Red Sox.

Manoah (2-0) earned the win Friday against the Rays after tossing seven scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while fanning 10.

The 10 strikeouts were a season-high mark for the 2019 first-round pick, who looked impressive in his first outing since serving a five-game suspension. He's now tossed two straight scoreless outings while allowing one earned run or fewer in four of his last five appearances. The sample size remains relatively small, but he owns a strong 2.70 ERA in his first seven outings as a big leaguer. He's slated to pitch again next week on the road against the Orioles.

Severino (elbow/groin) threw off a bullpen mound Saturday, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.

The Yankees were hopeful that Severino could resume mound work by July 4, and he was able to meet that goal during Saturday's bullpen session. The right-hander has been recovering from Tommy John surgery to begin the year, but his rehab was delayed in mid-June due to a Grade 2 groin strain. A better idea of Severino's return timetable could be revealed based on how he responds after he threw 20-25 pitches Saturday, though for now it sounds like he could return to the Yankees by early August if he stays on track in his recovery.

Farrell (oblique) has "slowed" in his recovery, according to manager Rocco Baldelli, and has not yet started throwing, MLB.com reports.

Farrell landed on the injured list June 25 and it sounds like he'll be out several weeks or more with an oblique strain.

Gilbert allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings Friday against the Rangers. He did not factor into the decision.

Gilbert was cruising early on before allowing two runs to score in the third due to a pair of errors in the inning. He got through a clean fourth, but then allowed a third run to cross home in the fifth on an RBI double off the bat of Charlie Culberson. The 24-year-old came back out for the sixth and was able to record two outs, but Gilbert was then replaced by Kenyan Middleton with his pitch count at 101. Overall, Gilbert has held his own pretty well with a 4.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 45:10 K:BB over 41.2 innings. He's lined up for a home matchup against the Yankees next week.
