The Reds placed Ashcraft on the bereavement list Thursday.

Ashcraft pitched Wednesday's win over the Rangers and will presumably be back in time for his next turn in the Reds' rotation early next week in San Diego. The 25-year-old boasts a 2.10 ERA with 24 strikeouts through 30 innings (five starts) this season.

Darvish (hamstring) is listed as the Padres' probable starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Giants in Mexico City.

Darvish experienced right hamstring cramping in his most recent start April 23 in Arizona, but with the Padres having two days off this week, the right-hander was afforded some extra recovery time and appears to have recovered nicely. He takes a 1-2 record, 3.00 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into his fifth start of the season this weekend.

Butto is scheduled to start Sunday's game against Atlanta at Citi Field.

Butto will wind up getting two starts this week, as he previously took a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday while working 4.2 innings and giving up two runs on four hits and six walks. Through his two outings with the big club this season, Butto owns an ugly 3:10 K:BB in 9.2 innings, and the poor control he's displayed thus far makes it tough to rely on him as a streaming option against a potent Atlanta lineup. The Mets are set to return Max Scherzer from suspension next week and will likely get Justin Verlander (shoulder) back from the injured list as well, so expect Butto to be optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse following Sunday's start, regardless of how he performs.

Henry is listed as Arizona's probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Though Triple-A Reno starter Brandon Pfaadt is gaining momentum for a move into the Arizona rotation, the Diamondbacks should still have spots available for both Pfaadt and Henry, as the team currently has four starters on the active roster at the moment with Madison Bumgarner having recently been released, Drey Jameson getting demoted to the minors and Zach Davies (oblique) on the injured list. Henry likely won't have a long leash, however, after he labored through 4.1 innings while giving up three runs on four hits and four walks against the Royals in a no-decision Monday. The southpaw doesn't make for an inspiring streaming option as he makes his second turn of the week in the thin air of Colorado.

Taillon (groin) will advance to long-toss throwing Thursday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

Taillon is making steady progress in his recovery from a mild-to-moderate left groin strain and could return to the Cubs' starting rotation in early May if all continues to go well. The 31-year-old had a 4.50 ERA and 16:4 K:BB through 14 innings (three starts) for Chicago before he landed on the injured list April 20.

Painter (elbow) advanced to playing catch from a distance of 90 feet Thursday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Painter still has a lot of hurdles to clear, but he has progressed without issue so far with his flat-ground work and might try throwing off a mound sometime in May. The highly-touted 20-year-old right-hander was diagnosed with a UCL sprain in his elbow back in March and is currently on the 60-day injured list at Double-A Reading. There's still some hope that he could debut with the Phillies in 2023, but it would likely be late in the season.

Burrows underwent surgery Wednesday to repair damage to the UCL in his right elbow, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

It was Tommy John surgery, per a followup report Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com, and Burrows is expected to be sidelined for the next 14-to-16 months. The 23-year-old had logged just two starts this season at Triple-A Indianapolis before his UCL gave out. He was an 11th-round pick in the 2018 First-Year Player Draft.

Walker (forearm) is scheduled to see a team doctor Thursday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Walker was pulled from his start Wednesday against the Mariners after experiencing right forearm tightness. He surrendered five earned runs on five hits and two walks over four innings before departing. Whatever the team doctor finds, an IL stint could be in the cards.

Gonsolin pitched 3.1 scoreless innings against Pittsburgh on Wednesday, allowing two hits and three walks. He struck out one batter and didn't factor in the decision.

Gonsolin spent the first four weeks of the campaign on the IL due to an ankle injury, so he was limited to just 65 pitches in his 2023 debut. The right-hander allowed two baserunners in the third frame before inducing an inning-ending double play, and Los Angeles' bullpen came to his rescue in the following frame after he put two more Pirates on base with one out. Gonsolin is tentatively slated to face Philadelphia his next time out, and he should be able to extend his pitch count further, though it may take a few outings before he's allowed to handle a full workload.

Gallen (4-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the Royals, scattering four hits without walking a batter over 6.1 scoreless innings while striking out 12.

The right-hander has been all but untouchable lately, and he extended his scoreless streak to 28 innings while fanning double-digits batters for the third time in his last four starts. Gallen produced 17 swinging strikes among his 97 pitches, and he'll take a dazzling 2.15 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 51:5 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which is likely to come next week on the road against the Rangers.
