Greene allowed four hits and struck out 11 over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

Greene went step-for-step with Jose Quintana over the first six frames of this game. Greene missed over six weeks with a shoulder injury. He threw 58 of 81 pitches for strikes in his return and looks to be in dominant form once again. He has a 4.97 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 138:41 K:BB through 108.2 innings across 21 starts this year. The rookie right-hander will likely get two or three more starts this year, with his next one projected to come against Milwaukee next week.

Matz (5-3) struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Reds.

Matz made his return from a torn left MCL in this appearance. He was immediately rewarded as the Cardinals won in the 11th inning after generating the lone run of the game on an error. This was Matz's first relief outing since 2020 with the Mets and just his sixth appearance out of the bullpen in his career. He has a 5.56 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 52:9 K:BB through 43.2 innings this year, though it's expected he'll serve as a multi-inning reliever for the rest of the campaign.

Quintana allowed just two hits and hit one batter while striking out six over eight shutout innings in a no-decision in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Reds.

The lone run of the game didn't score until the 11th inning, denying Quintana a win in easily his best start of the year. He's gone 2-1 across nine starts spanning 48 innings for the Cardinals, allowing no more than two earned runs in any of those outings. The southpaw trimmed his ERA to 3.16 with a 1.25 WHIP and 125:44 K:BB through 151 innings across 29 starts between the Cardinals and the Pirates this year. He's lined up for a road start versus the Dodgers next week.

Gallen (12-3) took the loss during Saturday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.'

Gallen escaped a bases-loaded jam in the first inning but wasn't as fortunate in the fourth, when both runs scored on two hits. The loss is the 27-year-old's first since June 10 and snaps a streak of eight wins in 10 turns, while the four strikeouts are his lowest total since July 3. Gallen carries a 2.52 ERA and 0.92 WHIP -- both marks within the top seven in MLB -- into his next start, scheduled to come midweek against the Dodgers.

Musgrove (10-7) earned the win during Saturday's 2-0 victory against Arizona, allowing four hits while striking out eight in six scoreless innings.

Musgrove spread the damage evenly, not permitting more than one baserunner in any frame, and fell in line for the win once San Diego took the lead in the fourth inning. He hadn't allowed fewer than three runs in his last four starts, during which he surrendered 17 runs (13 earned) in 20 innings. Additionally, the eight strikeouts Saturday are Musgrove's second highest total in his last 13 turns while the win was his second in his last 15. Musgrove carries a 3.16 ERA into his next start, scheduled to come next weekend in Colorado.

Gonsolin (forearm) threw a successful bullpen session Saturday, but the team doesn't expect him to be built up to a full starter's workload before the postseason, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Gonsolin has had an outstanding season, posting a 2.10 ERA in 23 starts, but he might not get the chance to add to that total down the stretch. He's been out since late August with a strained forearm, and the Dodgers have no incentive to rush him given that they've already clinched their division and face no real competition for the top seed in the National League. While Gonsolin seemingly has time to make it back for an outing or two, those appearances could come in relief or as very short starts.

Rodon (finger) looks to be good to go for his next start, which lines up to come Tuesday in Colorado, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Rodon left his last start against Atlanta after just five innings and 71 pitches due to a blister and a cracked nail, but it doesn't look as though the issue will force him to miss a turn in the rotation. That's excellent news for the Giants and for those with Rodon on their fantasy teams, as Rodon's dominant season makes him a strong choice even at Coors Field.

Wesneski allowed just one run on three hits across seven innings but did not factor into the decision in Saturday's game against the Rockies. He had no walks and struck out seven.

Wesneski didn't get the run support he needed for a win in the 3-1 defeat, but he still looked good in his first MLB start. The righty had previously made two relief appearances for the Cubs, allowing three runs across 8.2 innings while striking out 11. The strikeouts have been promising for Wesneski so far, and the 24-year-old is currently penciled in to start again next week against the Pirates. If he continues to impress, he could be in the mix for a 2023 Opening Day rotation spot on a rebuilding Chicago squad.

Rogers' early exit Saturday against the Nationals was due to left lat discomfort, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Rogers completed just one inning before exiting the game. While his initial diagnosis could be a lot more severe, the timing of the injury and the fact that the Marlins are nowhere near the playoff race could lead the team to decide to shut him down.

Matz (knee) was activated off the injured list Saturday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Matz struggled to a 5.70 ERA in 10 starts for the Cardinals before tearing the MCL in his left knee, though his 27.4 percent strikeout rate and 4.8 percent walk rate were both strong marks. He's ready to help out in the final few weeks of the season, albeit in a bullpen role, as he didn't have time to build all the way up to a starter's workload.
