  • Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Strong outing in loss

Wacha (5-4) held the Padres to two runs over seven innings Friday but was charged with the loss after allowing six hits and a walk while striking out two.

Although no one on the current Padres roster had taken Wacha deep before, both of his runs allowed came via back-to-back solo shots by Fernando Tatis Jr. and Eric Hosmer. The right-hander had held the Padres to one run back on April 6, but he also walked eight in that outing, so Friday's performance showed some signs of improvement. Wacha has struggled with consistency, but when he's on, he has the ability to shut his opponents down. He'll take a 5.30 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 62:37 K:BB into a Thursday contest at Seattle.

  • Eric Lauer SP | LAD

Padres' Eric Lauer: Takes no-decision in win

Lauer did not factor into the decision during Friday's win over the Cardinals, surrendering one run on six hits and a walk while striking out three over four innings.

Despite holding the Cardinals to one run, it took Lauer 98 pitches to get through four innings. The southpaw just didn't have his best stuff. He retired the top of the lineup in the first inning but loaded the bases with consecutive hits in the second. Lauer then recorded two outs but allowed a single to Tommy Edman to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. On the bright side, the 24-year-old has only allowed one home run in June. Lauer now owns a 4.22 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 66:24 K:BB. He'll look to bounce back in a more favorable matchup against the Giants on Wednesday.

  • Jacob deGrom SP | TEX

Mets' Jacob deGrom: Hit with loss despite quality start

DeGrom (4-7) took the loss Friday, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings while striking out seven as the Mets were downed 6-2 by Atlanta.

The right-hander fired 71 of 107 pitches for strikes, but deGrom once again didn't get enough run support to turn his 11th quality start of the season into a win. He'll take a 3.32 ERA and 128:22 K:BB through 103 innings into his next outing July 5, at home against the Phillies.

  • Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR

Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Hot run halted Friday

Ryu (9-2) allowed seven runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out four over four innings Friday, taking the loss as the Dodgers fell 13-9 to the Rockies.

He allowed more runs in this game than in his three previous starts combined. It's also the first time the 32-year-old has allowed more than three runs in a game this season. Ryu still has a sparkling 1.83 ERA and 0.90 WHIP through 103 innings this season, with a 94:7 K:BB. Coors Field is rarely a merciful park -- Ryu should have an easier go of things when he takes on the Diamondbacks at home Wednesday.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Braves' Mike Soroka: Collects ninth win

Soroka (9-1) picked up the win in Friday's 6-2 victory over the Mets, allowing two runs on seven hits over 6.1 innings while striking out four.

The rookie right-hander didn't appear to be affected by the forearm bruise he suffered from the HBP in his last outing, cruising to his 10th quality start in 14 trips to the mound. Soroka will carry a 2.13 ERA and 67:19 K:BB through 84.2 innings into his next start Thursday, at home against the Phillies.

  • Rockies' Antonio Senzatela: Sloppy in win

Senzatela (7-5) earned the win Friday, allowing five runs (two earned) on seven hits and five walks in five innings. He struck out two in the 13-9 victory over the Dodgers.

Five days after taking a no-decision in Chavez Ravine, Senzatela got a better result with a messier process, although his ERA actually dipped to 4.83 as all three runs against him in the first inning were unearned. The right-hander has a 47:39 K:BB over 82 innings this season. He's expected to start on the road against the Diamondbacks next Friday. Senzatela has allowed only four runs in 19 innings over his last three road starts, including a one-run outing versus the D'backs on June 18.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: To IL with oblique strain

Hamels has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

He will get an MRI on Saturday, after which a timetable for his return will be revealed. Given the nature of the injury, however, it's safe to expect Hamels to be sidelined for at least a few weeks. Adbert Alzolay now likely sticks in the rotation even after Kyle Hendricks (shoulder) returns. Tyler Chatwood could enter the rotation for a turn before Hendricks comes back, possibly sometime next week.

  • Kyle Freeland SP | COL

Rockies' Kyle Freeland: Blasted at Triple-A

Freeland gave up 10 runs (nine earned) on 12 hits over 3.1 innings Friday, striking out five and walking three for Triple-A Albuquerque.

Freeland tossed a quality start for the Isotopes on June 17, giving hope he was set to rebound from the struggles that got him sent down, but he's been shelled in his other four Triple-A starts, leaving him with an ugly 11.12 ERA over 22.2 innings in the Pacific Coast League. At this point, the left-hander looks to be a long way off from a return to the big-league level -- a disappointing development after he posted a solid 2.85 ERA over 202.1 innings in 2018.

  • Cole Hamels SP | SD

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Exits with left side soreness

Hamels left Friday's game against the Reds in the second inning with an apparent left oblique injury, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

He missed time with an oblique injury in 2017, but that was to his right side. Mike Montgomery replaced Hamels, who was charged with one earned run on two hits and a walk while getting just three outs (one strikeout). Tyler Chatwood would likely step into the rotation in the short term if Hamels has to miss his next start.

Cubs' Cole Hamels: Exits Friday with apparent injury

Hamels exited Friday's game against the Reds with an apparent injury, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

He was replaced by Mike Montgomery. Hamels gave up one run on two hits with one strikeout while recording three outs before exiting in the second inning.
