  • Alex Wood RP | ATH

Dodgers' Alex Wood: Moved back to Friday

Wood will have his next start moved back to Friday against the Padres, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Wood was initially slated to start Thursday against the Angels, but now Clayton Kershaw will start instead. The Dodgers' rotation has been prone to juggling like this all year due to all its injuries. This one looks favorable for Wood, as he draws an excellent matchup against the Padres at Petco Park.

  • Zack Greinke SP | KC

Diamondbacks' Zack Greinke: Beats Phillies with five strong innings

Greinke (9-4) tossed five innings of one-run ball in Monday's win over the Phillies, allowing three hits and three walks with five strikeouts.

Greinke allowed just two baserunners through the first four innings, then gave up his only run in the fifth, when he allowed four men to reach base. Although he escaped the jam with no further damage, he did elevate his pitch count to 102 and was removed at that point with a five-run lead. Greinke has failed to complete six innings in three of his last four starts, but he still holds a sound 3.08 ERA and a strong 114:22 K:BB to go with his excellent record. The veteran will look to last longer Saturday against the Rockies.

  • Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Moved up to Thursday

Kershaw will have his next start moved up to Thursday against the Angels, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The Dodgers are rearranging their rotation in the wake of yet another injury, this time to Brandon McCarthy. Kershaw will be moved up to face the Angels instead of the Padres, and Alex Wood will be moved back from Thursday to Friday.

  • Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Sent back to minors

Stripling was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma on Monday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Stripling ate up two innings Sunday, which was all the Dodgers really needed from him. He owns a mediocre 4.03 ERA and 1.42 WHIP over 38 innings, and the 27-year-old will likely be up and down all season long.

  • Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Lifted with triceps strain

Finnegan left Monday's game in the fourth inning with a left triceps strain.

This is a tough blow for Finnegan, as Monday marked his first start since April 15 after spending more than two months on the DL with a shoulder strain. The Reds haven't yet provided a timetable for the 24-year-old, though it should become clearer after he's further evaluated Tuesday. A trip back to the disabled list seems possible at this point, in which case lefty-throwing Amir Garrett would be an option to return from Triple-A Louisville to take his place in the rotation. Finnegan has made just four starts this season, lasting a combined 13 innings.

  • Tyler Anderson SP | LAA

Rockies' Tyler Anderson: Heads back to DL

Anderson was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with left knee inflammation, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Anderson lasted just 2.1 innings and allowed four earned runs in his first start back from the disabled list Sunday, and the knee issue could help explain his struggles. This is a tough blow for the 27-year-old, who was activated from the disabled list less than a week ago. It's currently unclear how long the issue will keep him sidelined, but he'll be eligible to return July 6. Chad Qualls was activated from the DL in a corresponding roster move.

  • Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Exits game after visit from trainer

Finnegan exited Monday's game with a trainer in the fourth inning, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

This isn't ideal for Finnegan, who was activated from the 60-day DL earlier in the day. The move could have simply been precautionary, given that this was his first major-league outing since mid-April, but it's still unclear at the moment. The 24-year-old exited after throwing just 58 pitches through three innings; he allowed three runs on three hits and four walks while striking out two batters.

  • Phillies' Vince Velasquez: Will throw bullpen Wednesday

Updating an earlier report, Velasquez (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of The News Journal reports.

Velasquez will push his scheduled bullpen up a day and, if all goes well, he's expected to throw around 50 pitches in a Triple-A rehab game Friday. This is promising news for the 25-year-old, who appears to be working his way toward rejoining the Phillies. He'll likely need multiple rehab starts to build up his pitch count, given the length of his absence, but Velasquez appears to be inching closer to a return to the big-league rotation.

  • Jerad Eickhoff SP | PIT

Phillies' Jerad Eickhoff: Will miss another start

Eickhoff (back) won't be activated from the 10-day disabled list in advance of his next scheduled start Wednesday against the Mariners, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Though Eickhoff (back) was able to resume throwing off a mound Sunday, he either didn't feel 100 percent during the session or will need to make a rehab start in the minors before getting clearance to rejoin the Phillies. With Eickhoff seemingly out of commission until at least next week, Mark Leiter will receive a second straight nod in his stead after covering six shutout innings in his first MLB start.

  • Reds' Brandon Finnegan: Activated ahead of Monday's start

Finnegan (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day disabled list and confirmed as the starting pitcher for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

As expected, Finnegan is ready to rejoin the Reds' rotation after missing more than two months with a strained shoulder. The 24-year-old looked sharp in his season debut (nine strikeouts across seven scoreless innings) before notching a pair of ineffective starts (three runs and eight walks across three innings) and subsequently landing on the DL, so he'll look to prove his first start of the season wasn't a fluke now that he's finally healthy.
