Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Ready for mound work
Matz (elbow) is expected to start throwing off a mound in the coming days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
With Matz having advanced to throwing long toss from 120 feet without incident, it looks like the Mets are ready to let him move on to the next phase of the recovery process. He's likely require multiple bullpen sessions of gradually escalating pitch counts before being cleared to face hitters in batting practice. After that, Matz, who has been out since late March with the elbow issue, would likely require multiple rehab starts in the minors before he's finally activated from the disabled list. While the news is certainly encouraging, the left-hander still looks to be two or more weeks away from rejoining the big club.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Gets start moved up to Sunday
Hendricks will have his next scheduled start moved up from Monday against the Phillies to Sunday against the Red Sox, ESPN.com's Jesse Rogers reports.
Hendricks had labored through his first three starts of the season, but finally found success in his most recent turn Tuesday against the Pirates, tossing six scoreless innings while giving up four hits and two walks. With the Cubs off the schedule Thursday, manager Joe Maddon will reshuffle his rotation a bit by keeping Hendricks on his normal four-day rest for Sunday's turn, while Brett Anderson gets pushed back a day. Hendricks will thus benefit from a two-start week, though fantasy owners were probably hoping for a better matchup than one against a potent Red Sox offense at Fenway Park.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Gets afternoon start Thursday
Martinez will start the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander had his original start pushed back due to Wednesday's rainout. Adam Wainwright will take the mound in the night cap.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Start pushed to Thursday
Syndergaard will make his next start Thursday against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
The Mets had originally slated Syndergaard to start Wednesday but will have Robert Gsellman make his regular turn in the rotation after Tuesday's rainout. The move mainly allows the team to start Matt Harvey in Friday's huge series opener against the Nationals. Syndergaard shut down the Braves in his first start this season, allowing no runs over six innings while racking up seven strikeouts, so he makes for a solid play Thursday.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Start postponed by rain
Martinez is expected to make his next start Thursday against the Blue Jays after Wednesday's game was postponed by rain, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Mother Nature intervened to give Martinez an extra day of rest, as the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Wednesday. The right-hander will be looking to reverse his early struggles -- including a 7.15 ERA and 11 walks over his last three starts -- against a weak Toronto lineup (.223 combined BA).

Jonathon Crawford SP | CIN
Reds' Jonathon Crawford: Still toiling at High-A
Crawford allowed three runs, two earned, in Tuesday's start for High-A Daytona, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
You may remember Crawford as the other part of the Reds' trade of Alfredo Simon that more notably netted them Eugenio Suarez, or chances are you may not. Crawford hasn't yet exceeded High-A despite being a first-round pick in 2013. He threw only 22.2 innings at High-A last year and this year so far has a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings there, albeit with 11 walks and 17 hits allowed.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Tosses seven strong innings in win over Giants
Kershaw (4-1) tossed seven innings of one-run ball in Tuesday's win over the Giants, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.
The home team got to Kershaw for a run on three hits in the third inning, but he allowed multiple batters to reach just once during the rest of his outing en route to another win. He has made it past the seventh inning just once this season and was pulled after 90 pitches in this one, indicating that the club may be hesitant to fully unleash him after injury issues last season. That really is nitpicking, though, when you consider that Kershaw carries a 2.29 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and a 9.9 K/8 through 35.1 innings. He'll toe the rubber again Sunday against Philly.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Hammered by Nats on Tuesday
Marquez (0-1) got tagged for eight runs on nine hits and three walks over four innings in Tuesday's 15-12 loss to the Nationals. He struck out two.
The 22-year-old's first start of the season was predictably a disaster considering he was facing one of the hottest offenses in the league at Coors Field, as Marquez and the Rockies were in a 7-0 hole before they came to bat in the second inning. He threw only 51 of 85 pitches for strikes, and the right-hander will need to improve his command and efficiency if he wants to hang onto his rotation spot. He gets another tough draw in his next start Sunday on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Quality start Tuesday
Wacha (2-1) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings but came away with a no-decision in Tuesday's extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays.
He and Marco Estrada dueled to a 2-2 standstill through six innings, only for both bullpens to turn the game into a 6-5 roller coaster. Wacha has now delivered four quality starts in four outings, leaving him with an impressive 2.55 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 23:6 K:BB through 24.2 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column Sunday at home against the Reds.

Tommy Milone SP | SEA
Brewers' Tommy Milone: Picks up three-inning save Tuesday
Milone gave up one run on two hits and a walk while striking out three over three innings of relief to notch his first save of the season in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Reds.
It's only the left-hander's second career save. The lone run off Milone came on an Adam Duvall solo shot and he's now given up four homers in his last three appearances and 13 innings, making him a risky fantasy play even if he were to move back into the rotation.
