Montero (6-6) earned the win Sunday, allowing five hits and one walk over five scoreless innings against the Orioles. He struck out one.

Montero did not allow a run for the second game in a row, with the biggest threat coming when he worked around a one-out second and third situation in the third inning. The 24-year-old rookie was pulled following just 63 pitches through five innings after coming off a complete-game shutout of the Rockies in his last start. Montero's ERA has dropped nearly a full run thanks to his most recent performances, moving from 5.47 to 4.60 with a 1.27 WHIP and 66 strikeouts through 88 innings. He's next slated to get another shot at the Orioles, this time in Baltimore.

The Diamondbacks recalled Walston from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The left-hander was activated from the injured list in mid-August after missing two months due to an elbow issue, but he was immediately sent to Triple-A. Walston has started in two of his three appearances with Arizona this season, but he's likely to work in a long-relief role this time around.

The Angels placed Aldegheri on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a blister on his left middle finger.

The 23-year-old surrendered four earned runs over two innings during his third MLB start Saturday, and he won't be eligible to return from the IL before the end of the season. Aldegheri had a 3.60 ERA in two starts with Double-A Reading after being acquired by the Angels ahead of the summer trade deadline, and he posted a 4.85 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 10:10 K:BB over 13 frames in his first taste of the big leagues. The left-hander should have a chance to crack the Angels' starting rotation coming out of spring training, but he could also begin the campaign in the minors given he has yet to see action at the Triple-A level.

Quantrill (tricep) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday against the Cubs.

The right-hander has been sidelined since late August due to a tricep injury, but he's ready to rejoin Colorado's rotation after a brief stay on the injured list. Quantrill has a 6.06 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 25:18 K:BB in 35.2 innings across seven starts since the All-Star break.

Scherzer did not factor into the decision in a loss to the Mariners on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over four innings while striking out two.

Scherzer struck out two of the first three batters he faced and got through the opening frame unscathed before allowing three consecutive batters to reach in the second, leading to one run coming across for Seattle. The veteran right-hander then coughed up a leadoff homer to Julio Rodriguez to open the third and was relieved by Jack Leiter after completing four innings. Scherzer's two strikeouts on the night marked his second-lowest total of the season in that category, though the Rangers have to feel good about him walking away from the mound without any setbacks in his first start since returning from the 15-day injured list.

Anderson (10-13) took the loss against the Astros on Saturday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.

Anderson got knocked around in the opening frame, giving up a bunt single to Jose Altuve to lead things off before eventually seeing him come home after throwing a wild pitch. The lefty would also allow two walks and a double in the inning, but managed to escape without sustaining any further damage. His luck would run out in the fifth, however, after he again surrendered a leadoff single to Jose Altuve, followed by a two-run blast to Yordan Alvarez. Anderson has now lost three of his last four decisions (spanning six starts), allowing four or more runs four times over that stretch. He's also issued multiple walks six consecutive outings and hasn't gotten through six innings in four straight.

Verlander (4-6) picked up the win over the Angels on Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings while striking out two.

Verlander actually got off to a rough start, allowing back-to-back walks and an RBI single to open the bottom of the first. However, he would then go on to retire 15 of the next 18 batters he faced before leaving the contest, allowing one more run on an Eric Wagaman double over that stretch. It marked the first win for the veteran right-hander since May 24 against Oakland, and it was only the second time in his last seven starts that he allowed fewer than four runs. Following the win, Verlander still carries a 10.66 ERA over three September outings to go along with an ugly 5:7 K:BB.

Black (0-4) took the loss against the Padres on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk over four innings while striking out two.

The Padres got to Black early, tagging the right-hander for one run in the opening frame following a double from Manny Machado, though the run was unearned on account of a fielding error by Heliot Ramos. The 24-year-old would then get through the next two innings unscathed before surrendering a solo homer to Xander Bogaerts in the fourth. It marked the sixth time in seven outings this season that Black was unable to get through five innings, though it was also the second time over that span that he allowed only one earned run. Additionally, he's given up at least one home run in all seven of his outings and is still looking for his first win on the campaign.

Maeda allowed three runs on two hits and a walk across two innings of relief in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Orioles. He struck out two.

Maeda was not charged with the loss, as Detroit already trailed 1-0 when he entered the game, but he didn't help his team's cause, either. The veteran righty has struggled all season, and his ERA now sits at an unsightly 6.07 after Saturday's poor performance. Maeda did come into the contest having logged 3.2 consecutive scoreless innings, but before that, he gave up eight runs (six earned) in his previous 9.1 innings. He's been much too volatile to trust in fantasy, and it remains to be seen what his role will be in 2025.

Musgrove (6-5) earned the win over the Giants on Saturday, allowing three hits over six scoreless innings while striking out eight.

Musgrove hit Mark Canha with a pitch to open the bottom of the first before then limiting the Giants to just three singles over his six innings of work. The right-hander induced 12 whiffs on the night en route to posting at least eight strikeouts for the third time in his last five outings. Musgrove has also hurled at least six shutout frames three times over that stretch while going 3-1. He now carries a 3.31 ERA over three starts in September to go along with a dominant 23:3 K:BB.
