  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Hits late two-run homer

Lindor went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer in a 9-6 loss to the Rays on Saturday.

Lindor hit the two-run shot to right field during the eighth inning to help spark a late rally, but the Indians were unable to overcome a seven-run deficit. The 25-year-old has a .299/.350/.537 slash line with 26 home runs, 62 RBI and 19 stolen bases in 117 contests.

  • Indians' Andrew Velazquez: Back from IL

Velazquez (hamstring) was activated from the minor-league injured list Saturday.

Velazquez will finish out the minor-league season with Triple-A Columbus after missing a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Across 53 games at Triple-A this season, the 25-year-old is slashing .304/.357/.510 with six home runs and three stolen bases.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Nursing hamstring injury

Crawford is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rangers due to a hamstring injury, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford apparently felt some tightness in his hamstring Thursday and tweaked it again Friday, prompting the Mariners to give him the day off Saturday. Dylan Moore is starting at shortstop in place of Crawford, who is hoping to return to the lineup in a day or two, per Divish.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Gets day off

Crawford is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford will head to the bench for what appears to be a routine day off following a string of 11 consecutive starts. The 24-year-old has struggled across 24 appearances in August, hitting just .209 with a .617 OPS. Dylan Moore is covering shortstop in his stead Saturday.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Retreats to bench

Wendle is not in the lineup Saturday against the Indians, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.

Wendle has yet to start consecutive games since returning from the injured list earlier in the month, and that trend will continue Saturday, with Matt Duffy getting the nod in his place at third base.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Astros' Aledmys Diaz: Starts at third base Friday

Diaz started at third base and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 7-4 win over Toronto.

Diaz was activated off the injured list Tuesday and has started two of the four games since. Until shortstop Carlos Correa (back) returns, Diaz and Abraham Toro should split time at third base while Alex Bregman fills in at shortstop.

  • Indians' Francisco Lindor: Drives in two during win

Lindor went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly in a 2-0 victory over the Tigers on Thursday.

It's not an overwhelmingly impressive stat line, but Lindor drove in the only two runs of the game, and he extended his hitting streak to 11 contests. Despite an early-season injury, Lindor is a stolen base away from his second straight 20/20 season. He is batting .301 with 25 home runs, 60 RBI, 79 runs and 19 steals in 479 at-bats this season.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Yet to resume hitting

Manager AJ Hinch said Thursday that Correa (back) has yet to resume swinging a bat, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Correa has been running and participating in rotational exercises, though he has yet to pick up a bat since landing on the injured list with a back injury Aug. 20. As such, the shortstop will remain in Houston to continue rehabbing while the Astros travel to Toronto and Milwaukee for their next five games. Look for a more concrete return date to come into focus once Correa ramps up his activities.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Heads to bench

Wendle is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Astros, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

After Wendle was reinstated from the injured list last weekend, Topkin predicted that the infielder would be unlikely to play more than two consecutive days the rest of the way after enduring a litany of injuries this season. That plan has held true thus far, as Wendle will head to the bench after logging starts Tuesday and Wednesday. Matt Duffy will enter the lineup at third base while Wendle rests up.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Batting fifth Thursday

Adrianza will start in right field and bat fifth Thursday against the White Sox, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

With three of the Twins' everyday players (Marwin Gonzalez, Max Kepler and Miguel Sano) considered day-to-day with injuries, Adrianza will not only capture his second straight start but occupy a prominent spot in the lineup. Both Kepler and Sano will be available off the bench and could be ready to rejoin the lineup as soon as Friday in Detroit, so Adrianza doesn't look like he'll have much longevity in the Twins' starting nine.
