Basabe isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Basabe will step out of the starting nine Thursday after going 1-for-5 during San Francisco's last series against the Reds. Nate Furman will start at second base while Basabe is on the bench, and Shay Whitcomb will get the nod at third.

The Giants reinstated Eldridge from the bereavement list Thursday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Eldridge missed the Giants' three-game series against Cincinnati while tending to a personal matter, but he's now back with the team and ready to rejoin the starting nine for Thursday's series opener against Arizona. Buddy Kennedy was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

The Dodgers placed Sasaki on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a blister on his right middle finger.

Sasaki had a nice seven-game stretch with a 2.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP prior to taking a no-decision in Wednesday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta. He surrendered four runs to Atlanta as he developed the blister, which has now sent him to the injured list. In a corresponding move Thursday, the Dodgers recalled Seth Halvorsen from Triple-A Oklahoma City while Eric Lauer will take over Sasaki's rotation spot.

Halvorsen will replace Roki Sasaki (finger) on the active roster and replenish the Dodgers' bullpen depth as Eric Lauer moves back into the rotation. Halvorsen owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.90 WHIP across 20 innings this season but has yet to give up a run in the majors or at Triple-A since joining the Dodgers organization in late July.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Thursday that May (shoulder) could start Sunday's game against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

May had to be removed from Wednesday's start against the Mets after throwing just one pitch due to a liner that struck him in the upper back/shoulder. He managed to escape serious injury and was able to play catch on the field Thursday. If May continues to recover as anticipated, he should be ready to take the ball Sunday on three days' rest.

Acuna is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Dodgers.

It's Acuna's first day off since he returned from the injured list exactly one month ago. Atlanta will roll out Mike Yastrzemski in right field while Acuna gets a day to rest.

Jordan was removed from Thursday's game versus the Orioles in the eighth inning with a left ankle injury, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Jordan's ankle got twisted underneath him as he made an awkward tag at third base. He required assistance to exit the field, so it could be an issue that requires a trip to the injured list. Jordan went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run Thursday before exiting.

Irvin did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Rockies, allowing a run on three hits and six walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out six.

While he held Colorado to a lone run Thursday, Irvin left the game before he could qualify for the win after he threw 94 pitches (53 strikes) while issuing a season-high six walks. Despite his spotty command, it could still be considered a step in the right direction for Irvin, who had struggled to a 7.01 ERA across 25.2 frames in his previous five starts. Overall, the right-hander is 2-8 with a 5.62 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 82:39 K:BB across 17 starts (81.2 innings) this season. Irvin's currently in line to face Atlanta at home his next time out.

Hughes (0-6) took the loss Thursday against the Nationals, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Hughes has had a rough go of it on the mound of late, posting a 10.03 ERA over 23.1 innings in his last five outings. Overall, the rookie right-hander sports a 6.61 ERA through 47.2 innings this season with a 1.45 WHIP and 38:19 K:BB. Hughes, who's still looking for his first major-league win, tentatively lines up to face the Orioles at home his next time out.

Lile went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Thursday's 7-1 win over the Rockies.

Lile opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single before extending Washington's lead to 4-1 in the fifth with a 399-foot blast off Gabriel Hughes, his 18th homer this season. Lile has been hot at the plate of late, going 12-for-28 (.429) with three homers and nine RBI in his last seven contests. Overall, the outfielder is slashing .251/.300/.424 with 74 RBI, 69 runs scored and 13 stolen bases across 556 plate appearances this year.
