Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Cubs.

Ortiz delivered the biggest blow of Washington's five-run fifth inning, taking Kevin Gausman deep for a three-run homer. The rookie has wasted little time making an impact since his call-up, going deep four times in just 10 games. During that stretch, Ortiz is batting 9-for-28 (.321) with eight RBI, providing an immediate source of power in what was already baseball's top scoring lineup.

Gausman (6-11) took the loss Thursday against the Nationals, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over 4.2 innings.

Gausman opened the afternoon with three perfect innings before Washington broke through for a run in the fourth. Things unraveled in the fifth, when the veteran right-hander was tagged for five runs, highlighted by an Abimelec Ortiz three-run homer. The performance was a stark contrast to Gausman's Cubs debut six days prior, when he worked seven innings while allowing just two runs. It's been a down year overall for Gausman, whose 4.60 ERA would be his highest since 2019 if he can't significantly improve it down the stretch. He's lined up to face the White Sox at home in his next start.

Cavalli (10-5) earned the win Thursday against the Cubs, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out 10 over eight scoreless innings.

Cavalli set a career high with 103 pitches and reached double-digit strikeouts while delivering the longest outing of his career. The right-hander carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Michael Busch broke it up with a two-out single. Cavalli has now recorded seven consecutive quality starts, posting a 2.25 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 44 innings during that stretch. He has won seven of his last eight decisions and his season ERA is down to 3.36 alongside a 1.24 WHIP and 151:41 K:BB across 136.2 innings. Cavalli will seek to carry Thursday's dominance into his next scheduled start Wednesday against Texas.

Nola (4-9) earned the win Thursday against the Twins, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out nine over five innings.

Nola threw 58 of his 97 pitches for strikes and secured his first victory since May 26. His lone blemish was a solo homer by Luke Keaschall in the second inning, increasing his MLB-leading total to 30 home runs allowed this season. The right-hander finished on a strong note, recording three strikeouts in the fifth to escape a bases-loaded jam. Nola has now completed at least five innings in eight straight starts while piling up 51 strikeouts across 45 innings during that span. He'll carry a 5.33 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 138:46 K:BB across 130 innings into his next scheduled start Wednesday at home against Miami.

Stone (shoulder) pitched three innings, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out five batters in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday.

Stone was making his second start with Oklahoma City since beginning his minor-league rehab assignment Aug. 6. The 27-year-old has been sidelined since undergoing right shoulder surgery in October of 2024, but he's now nearing a return to action with the Dodgers. He was able to notch 32 strikes over 46 total pitches, and the team will likely look for Stone to ramp up his workload even more in his next rehab outing next week.

Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Knack will return to Oklahoma City after being called up to the big-league roster Wednesday, collecting a save while tossing 2.2 scoreless innings in the team's 4-2 win over the Royals. The Dodgers selected the contract of right-handed reliever Jonathan Hernandez on Thursday, and Knack was the odd man out with the major-league club.

Hernandez had his contract selected by the Dodgers on Thursday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Hernandez was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday, but he will now return to the big-league bullpen ahead of the team's four-game series at home versus the Brewers beginning Thursday night. The 30-year-old has posted an inflated 6.45 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 22.1 innings in 15 appearances with Los Angeles this season, and he'll likely be used only in low-leverage situations versus Milwaukee. In order to make room on the 26-man roster, Landon Knack was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Stephenson went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Thursday's 9-8 win over the White Sox.

Stephenson broke open a tie with a three-run homer in the fourth inning. It was his 11th home run of the season. He continued a strong second half and is now slashing .302/.397/.635 with five home runs, 10 doubles, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored over 19 games since the All-Star break.

Suarez went 1-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Thursday's 9-8 win over the White Sox.

Suarez connected for a two-run home run in the first inning and later plated runs on a sacrifice fly and a hit-by-pitch. The home run was his fourth over his last six games. Suarez owns a .205/.285/.462 slash line with 18 home runs and 48 RBI through 89 games.

Turang (knee) is not in the starting lineup Thursday night against the Dodgers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Turang is dealing with left knee pain, and he underwent an MRI on Thursday. Manager Pat Murphy did not rule the second baseman out past Thursday's contest, but Turang is expected to get a second opinion following the MRI. If Turang is forced to miss any action moving forward, David Hamilton and Ji Hwan Bae would be the top two candidates to fill in for him at second base.
