O'Neale is expected to sign a four-year, $44 million deal to return to the Suns when free agency officially opens July 6, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. The Suns acquired O'Neale on Feb. 8, and he averaged 8.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 0.9 steals across 25.0 minutes in 30 regular-season games for the team. The 31-year-old also shot an efficient 37.6 percent from deep in that span. Even with Phoenix fizzling out in the playoffs with a first-round exit and the team having since replaced Frank Vogel as head coach with Mike Budenholzer, O'Neale is still viewed as a core rotational piece for the club heading into 2024-25.

O'Neale will start Friday's Game versus the Timberwolves, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports. Grayson Allen (ankle) will sit out Game 3, but he's considered day-to-day and could be back for Game 4 on Sunday. In 14 starts during the regular season, O'Neale averaged 10.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.9 three-pointers.

O'Neale led the Suns in threes made while pacing Phoenix's bench in scoring and ending as one of four players with a double-digit point total in a postseason defeat. O'Neale connected on four or more threes in 13 games during the regular season, nine of which came off the bench. He concluded the regular season schedule with 10 or more points in two of his final four contests.

O'Neale will come off the bench Friday night against the Kings, Duane Rankin of The Arizona Republic reports. O'Neale drew a start at small forward Wednesday over Grayson Allen as the team experimented with a new lineup, but O'Neale will head back to the bench for Friday's clash. The Baylor product has shown that he can produce off the bench, collecting 10 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes Tuesday as a reserve.

O'Neale ended Wednesday's 124-108 victory over the Clippers with 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-9 3Pt), seven rebounds, five assists, one block and three steals in 33 minutes. O'Neale got the starting nod Wednesday, replacing Grayson Allen in the lineup while ending as one of four Suns players to tally 15 or more points while swiping a team-high trio of steals in a balanced performance. O'Neale, who also connected on a trio of threes, has posted at least 15 points, five rebounds and five assists in two games this year -- this being his first while in the starting lineup.
