Williams will sign a one-year, $5 million deal with the Thunder, according to NBA reporter Chris Haynes. The Thunder recently declined his $7.1 million team option, so they save some money here in addition to generating some tax relief for the franchise. The forward averaged 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 15.3 minutes per contest across 56 regular-season games for the Thunder in 2025-26.

The Thunder are declining Williams' team option for next season, per Clemente Almanza of USA Today. Williams has spent the past six years of his career with Oklahoma City, but it looks like he'll have a new home in 2026-27. The forward averaged just 6.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 15.3 minutes per contest across 56 regular-season games for the Thunder this past season, but Williams will likely have an opportunity for a much larger role if he signs with a lesser club.

Williams closed with two points (1-4 FG, 0-2 3Pt) and one rebound over four minutes during Saturday's 111-103 loss to the Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Williams averaged 16.7 minutes per game off the bench in the three games prior to Saturday's elimination contest. However, he saw just four minutes of action in Game 7 as Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault opted to shorten his rotation. Williams' playing time fluctuated during the 2025-26 campaign, both in the regular season and playoffs. Whether he's back in Oklahoma City depends on whether the Thunder exercise Williams' team option for the 2026-27 season, which is valued at $7.16 million. If he does return, then he'll likely operate in a reserve role behind Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and Jalen Williams (hamstring).

Williams finished with 10 points (3-7 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists and one steal across 23 minutes during Sunday's 103-82 loss to San Antonio in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. With the Thunder getting blown out early, Williams saw his largest workload of the postseason. Prior to Sunday's game, Williams had just 19 total minutes across seven postseason appearances.

Williams logged 15 points (7-22 FG, 1-6 3Pt), 12 rebounds, one assist and two steals in 32 minutes during Friday's 127-107 loss to the Nuggets. The Thunder were down nearly all of their starters, so Williams logged over 30 minutes for the first time since the 116-106 loss to San Antonio on Feb 4. With Oklahoma City looking to stay healthy, Williams may see more minutes until the end of the regular season, although he will likely return to a limited role during the playoffs.
