• Bucks' Elijah Hughes: Inks deal with Milwaukee

  The Bucks signed Hughes to a training camp deal Thursday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Hughes averaged 16.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals in 33.3 minutes across 25 games for the Bucks' G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, last season. He will likely also spend the 2023-24 campaign with the Herd.

  Hughes did not play during Tuesday's 129-114 win over Grand Rapids because of an undisclosed injury. An undisclosed injury or illness prevented Hughes from participating in the Herd's latest game. Currently, their next matchup is scheduled against Capital City on Thursday.

  Hughes logged 22 points (9-18 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block across 35 minutes during the Herd's 119-114 loss to Maine on Wednesday. Hughes continues to benefit from unavailable teammates, which included AJ Green and Lindell Wigginton (both part of Milwaukee's roster at the moment) on Wednesday. Across the 2023 Herd's short schedule remaining, Hughes is expected to be a significant contributor to their offense.

  Hughes logged 29 points (11-18 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, five assists and five steals across 42 minutes during the Herd's 132-131 overtime win over Lakeland on Thursday. Benefiting from extra minutes given because of multiple teammate absences and overtime, Hughes logged his best point and steal tallies of the 2022-23 season. The Herd's backcourt has lacked depth of late, allowing Hughes to play a larger workload than usual.

  Hughes (undisclosed) logged 18 points (6-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT) and three assists across 31 minutes during the Herd's 141-130 win over Capital City on Friday. Fortunately for Hughes, he sat out only once because of the undisclosed problem that prevented him from playing Wisconsin's previous game. Currently, he is averaging 15.8 points as a Herd player. Though those are not enough to replace Jordan Bone or Lindell Wigginton to be part of the Herd's starting backcourt, Hughes has the scoring prowess to be their sixth man.
