The Bucks announced that Sims underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb. Sims is expected to be sidelined for approximately four weeks and is likely to return during the playoffs.
Sims initially injured his thumb in Saturday's win over the Pacers, but he proceeded to play through the issue Sunday, logging 12 minutes in a loss to the Thunder. However, with the Bucks determining that Sims would require surgery to address the matter, he'll now be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. By the time Sims is fully healthy, he'll likely be outside of the rotation, as Milwaukee will get backup center Bobby Portis back from his 25-game suspension April 8.
