Henderson ended with 18 points (5-12 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), five assists and four rebounds across 28 minutes during Monday's 111-98 loss to the Kings. The second-year point guard finished as the club's second-leading scorer behind Deandre Ayton (20) in the low-scoring defeat. Henderson has produced a decent start to the year, and through four regular-season outings, he has averaged 16.0 points, 5.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals across 28.8 minutes per game. The 20-year-old has come off the bench in four straight contests behind Anfernee Simons. However, if injury concerns arise in the backcourt, or if Simons slides to the two-guard over Toumani Camara, Henderson is seemingly a candidate to join the starting lineup.

Henderson registered 22 points (7-18 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 139-104 loss to the Warriors. It was surprising to see Henderson on the bench to begin the game, but the team elected to start Anfernee Simons and Toumani Camara in the backcourt. The Trail Blazers made a huge investment with Henderson, and it seems unlikely that he'll be on the bench for long. Coming out of the G League, Henderson is still developing, but Portland has a better chance at notching some wins with Henderson as a starter.

The Trail Blazers picked up Henderson's third-year team option Saturday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. No surprise here, as the No. 3 pick in last year's NBA Draft remains a pillar in Portland's plans going forward. However, he did struggle during his rookie campaign, shooting 38.5 percent from the field and committing 3.4 turnovers per game. Still, the point guard flashed promising signs as the season progressed, averaging 18.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.3 triples across the final 14 games of the regular season. He is expected to start alongside Anfernee Simons in the backcourt this season.

Henderson scored 23 points (10-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT) while adding five rebounds, six assists and two steals across 32 minutes in Wednesday's 111-100 preseason win over Ratiopharm Ulm. Henderson is locked in at the starting point guard role for the start of the 2024-25 season, though injuries to Anfernee Simons (ankle) and Shaedon Sharpe (shoulder) have played a role in that. Regardless, Henderson has looked sharp in preseason and could be poised to have a breakout season or at least improve upon the numbers he delivered as a rookie in 2023-24, when he averaged 14.0 points, 5.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game while shooting a meager 38.5 percent from the field across 62 regular-season contests.

Henderson delivered 17 points (5-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-8 FT), four rebounds, seven assists and two steals across 25 minutes in Sunday's 108-85 preseason win over the Kings. Henderson led the Trail Blazers in scoring, and even though his final shooting line wasn't encouraging, he still posted a solid all-around outing. Henderson will open the regular season as the Blazers' starting point guard, and a strong showing in the first few weeks of the campaign could boost his upside considerably due to Shaedon Sharpe's shoulder injury.
