Okongwu contributed 23 points (10-18 FG, 3-7 3Pt), seven rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal over 40 minutes during Sunday's 152-150 loss to the Bulls. It was an impressive bounce-back effort after Okongwu scored just seven points Friday against the Spurs. The 25-year-old center has scored at least 20 points in four of nine December games, averaging 15.2 points, 7.4 boards, 4.0 assists, 1.7 threes, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 steals so far this month.

Okongwu had a mixed performance in a blowout loss to the Pistons, recording a season high in blocks and turnovers. The USC product leads the league with three games collecting at least two steals and three blocks in the same game. The big man has scored in double figures in all but three games this season and remains a steady source of points, rebounds, and stocks, especially when Kristaps Porzingis (illness) misses time.

Okongwu is in the Hawks' starting lineup against the Cavaliers on Friday, Brad Rowland of the Locked On Podcast Network reports. Okongwu will make his eighth start of the season Friday due to the absence of Kristaps Porzingis (illness). Okongwu has been productive both as a starter and off the bench this season, and in 12 games since Nov. 2, he has averaged 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.3 threes, 0.9 blocks and 0.9 steals over 28.7 minutes per contest.

Okongwu will start Sunday's game against the Hornets, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports. With Kristaps Porzingis (rest) sitting out the second leg of Atlanta's back-to-back set, Okongwu will get the starting nod. In his previous six starts this season, the big man averaged 20.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.7 steals in 34.3 minutes per game.
