Williams (leg) underwent successful surgery Wednesday to "address a fractured left fibula and reconstruction of ankle ligaments following a fracture and dislocation." He will be re-evaluated before the end of the regular season, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports. Williams suffered the injury during Sunday's meeting with the Clippers and was taken off the court on a stretcher. It's unknown when the 25-year-old will be cleared to return, though the Thunder will presumably be overly cautious moving forward. Williams, who signed a five-year extension in July of 2025, has had a productive career, averaging 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.3 steals over 30.9 minutes per contest. However, after playing at least 69 regular-season games in his first three years in the league, he has appeared in just 36 in the last two seasons combined. With the Thunder having one of the deepest rosters in the NBA, the team may look for more minutes from Jared McCain, Jaylin Williams, and Kenrich Williams for the remainder of the 2026-27 campaign.

Williams has been diagnosed with a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula, which will require surgery, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Williams suffered the gruesome injury during Sunday's matchup against the Clippers and needed to be stretched off the court after a drive to the rim. He's expected to miss a significant chunk of the 2026-27 season while recovering, but the Thunder should have a better idea of a timeline for his return following surgery.

Williams was stretchered off the floor during Sunday's game against the Clippers due to an apparent left ankle injury, NBA writer Justin Russo reports. Williams suffered a gruesome left ankle injury after crashing to the floor on a drive to the rim, resulting in him being taken off on a stretcher. A devastating development for the star guard, who is coming off an injury-plagued campaign in 2025-26. A considerable layoff seems imminent for Williams, likely leaving minutes for Jared McCain, Ajay Mitchell, Alex Caruso and Kenrich Williams to absorb.

Williams tallied 21 points (7-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds and three assists in 33 minutes during Thursday's 96-84 win over the Nuggets. Williams picked up the slack on the offensive end during an off night for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (17 points). The 25-year-old Williams led the Thunder in the scoring column and looked more confident with the basketball in his hands Thursday following a dismal 5-for-16 showing from the field in the season opener against San Antonio on Tuesday.

Williams closed Tuesday's 116-104 win over the Spurs with 12 points (5-16 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 30 minutes. Williams struggled from the field but still reached double figures and tied Holmgren for the team lead in boards. He was one of four players hit with a technical during a second-quarter scuffle. He and Kenrich Williams then scored five points in the 9-0 run that followed, which helped Oklahoma City pull away before halftime.
