Magic's Wendell Carter: Undergoing imaging on ankle
Coach Jamahl Mosley told reporters following Monday's preseason game against the Pelicans that Carter will get imaging on his left ankle ahead of Wednesday's exhibition contest against the Spurs, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
Carter sprained his left ankle during Monday's preseason game, and he was visibly frustrated as he was helped to the locker room. It seems unlikely that Carter will play Wednesday, and the imaging on his ankle will determine his availability for the rest of the preseason.

Joel Embiid C | PHI
76ers' Joel Embiid: Won't play Monday
Embiid (rest) won't play in Monday's exhibition versus the New Zealand Breakers, Kyle Neubeck of AllPHLY.com reports.
Embiid and Paul George will stay in street clothes for the 76ers' preseason opener. The 2023 MVP lost 25-to-30 pounds this offseason in an effort to be healthier during the playoffs, and it'd be surprising if he plays a significant role during preseason action. Philadelphia has a back-to-back set this weekend, playing in Minnesota on Friday and in Boston on Saturday.

Zach Edey C | MEM
Grizzlies' Zach Edey: Expected to start Monday
Edey is projected to be in the starting lineup for Monday's preseason game against the Mavericks, Michael Wallace of the Grizzlies' official site reports.
With Jaren Jackson (hamstring) unavailable, the Grizzlies are expected to roll with Edey, Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Marcus Smart and Santi Aldama as their starting five for Monday's preseason opener. Edey tweaked his ankle during the Summer League but has been a full participant during training camp.

Magic's Wendell Carter: Suffers ankle sprain
Carter suffered a sprained left ankle during Monday's preseason game against the Pelicans and was unable to return, Dan Savage of the Magic's official site reports. Carter finished with four points (2-3 FG, 0-1 3Pt), six rebounds and one steal in 20 minutes.
Carter needed help to get to the locker room and was visibly frustrated about the injury. Carter has had some tough luck with injuries in the past, so this is something for fantasy managers to watch closely. It wouldn't be surprising to see Carter miss Wednesday's preseason contest against the Spurs even if this is just a minor issue.

Day'Ron Sharpe C | BKN
Nets' Day'Ron Sharpe: Out at least six weeks
Sharpe will miss at least six weeks with a left hamstring strain, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports.
Sharpe had been poised to enter the season as the top backup to starting center Nic Claxton, but his hamstring injury will likely keep him out until at least the second half of November. With Sharpe out of the mix, Noah Clowney could see increased run on the second unit to open the season, while Claxton's minutes floor could be higher.

Maxi Kleber C | LAL
Mavericks' Maxi Kleber: Out Monday
Kleber (ankle) will not play in Monday's preseason game against Memphis.
Kleber has yet to return to practice after tweaking his ankle early in training camp. With so much competition in the frontcourt, Kleber is looking at a minimal role at best this season.

Daniel Theis C | NO
Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Draws first start
Theis will start at center for Monday's preseason game against Orlando.
Rookie Yves Missi will likely get a chance with the starters at some point during the preseason, but Theis will get the first chance. In 373 career regular-season NBA games, Theis holds averages of 7.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.9 blocks.

Brook Lopez C | LAC
Bucks' Brook Lopez: Sees limited minutes Sunday
Lopez posted eight points (3-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt), four rebounds, two steals and two blocks across 15 minutes in Sunday's 120-87 preseason loss to the Pistons.
It seems coach Doc Rivers tried to limit the minutes of the potential starters in this preseason opener, as no player reached the 20-minute threshold. Lopez will open the 2024-25 season as the starting center and should see steady minutes down low as Giannis Antetokounmpo's frontcourt partner.

Anthony Davis C | WAS
Lakers' Anthony Davis: Grabs eight boards vs. Phoenix
Davis tallied 17 points (7-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-4 FT), eight rebounds, three assists and one steal across 18 minutes in Sunday's 118-114 preseason loss to the Suns.
Davis was the second-leading scorer for the Lakers on Sunday behind LeBron James (19), despite the duo not playing more than 20 minutes. Davis is looking to build off a strong 2023-24 campaign, during which he averaged 24.7 points on 55.6 percent shooting, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.3 blocks and 1.2 steals across 35.5 minutes per game.

Alex Sarr C | WAS
Wizards' Alex Sarr: Efficient in preseason debut
Sarr tallied 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3Pt), four assists, three rebounds and one block across 22 minutes during Sunday's 125-98 preseason loss to Toronto.
The No. 2 overall pick was the second-leading scorer for the Wizards on Sunday behind Jordan Poole (16 points). Sarr had some shooting struggles during the Summer League, but he was efficient in the preseason opener. Sarr should be starting in the frontcourt alongside Jonas Valanciunas and Kyle Kuzma to open the 2024-25 campaign.
