  • Spurs' Victor Wembanyama: Flirts with triple-double

Wembanyama popped off for nine points (3-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists and three blocks in just 16 minutes of action during Monday's preseason win over the Guangzhou Loong-Lions.

Wemby also committed an unfortunate six turnovers while he was out there, but the rest of his stat line shows his immense upside. He looked great running the Spurs' offense, and Monday's performance hints he could spend more time operating as San Antonio's primary playmaker this upcoming season. He'll make for an easy top-3 selection on draft day.

  • Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Paces Houston in preseason win

Sengun supplied 19 points (5-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 7-7 FT), six assists, five rebounds and two blocks across 17 minutes in Monday's 122-113 preseason win over the Hawks.

Sengun led all players in scoring in an efficient performance during Houston's preseason opener. The star center also recorded team-high marks in assists and blocks. The 23-year-old is coming off his first All-Star nod in the 2024-25 campaign, during which he averaged 19.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.1 steals across 31.5 minutes per game in 76 regular-season appearances.

  • Hawks' Kristaps Porzingis: Looks rusty in preseason debut

Porzingis finished with five points (2-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-4 FT), one assist, one steal and one turnover across 12 minutes in Monday's preseason loss to Houston.

Porzingis also racked up five fouls in his 12 minutes of play, but it is probably futile to read too much into Atlanta's preseason opener. However, it's worth noting that midway through the match, he was sporting some tape on his right wrist that he wasn't wearing at the beginning of the game. The potential injury is worth monitoring, considering Porzingis' injury history.

  • N'Faly Dante C | ATL

Hawks' N'Faly Dante: Grabs 10 rebounds

Dante (ankle) tallied no points (0-2 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and one block over 13 minutes in Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Rockets.

Dante didn't score but made his presence felt on the glass, grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds to open the preseason. The Oregon product suffered a left ankle sprain July 14 during Summer League play with the Rockets before signing with the Hawks on Aug. 19, but his participation Monday suggests the injury is no longer lingering.

  • Kel'el Ware C | MIA

    Heat's Kel'el Ware: Double-doubles in preseason loss

Ware contributed 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 2-3 FT), 13 rebounds and one steal across 23 minutes in Monday's 103-93 preseason loss to the Bucks.

Ware tied the game high in points and led all players in rebounds en route to a double-double. The second-year big man has come off the bench in each of the Heat's two preseason games, totaling 28 points, 22 rebounds and two steals across 41 total minutes. Ware started 36 of his 64 regular-season appearances in 2024-25 and is expected to compete with Nikola Jovic for a starting job alongside Bam Adebayo ahead of the regular season.

  • Raptors' Ulrich Chomche: Inactive Monday

Chomche (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason game against the Nuggets, Vivek Jacob of the Raptors' official site reports.

Chomche missed training camp and will remain sidelined to start the preseason due to an undisclosed injury. The big man spent most of the 2024-25 season in the G League, making seven brief NBA appearances with the Raptors before suffering an MCL tear in his right knee Feb. 19. His next opportunity to take the court will come Wednesday against the Kings.

  • Jakob Poeltl C | TOR

Raptors' Jakob Poeltl: Won't play Monday

Poeltl (back) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason game against the Nuggets, Eric Smith of Sportsnet 590 The Fan reports.

Poeltl will sit out the Raptors' preseason opener due to lower-back stiffness that flared up after Sunday's practice. His absence should create additional opportunities for second-year forward Jonathan Mogbo and veteran Sandro Mamukelashvili.

  • Jalen Duren C | DET

Pistons' Jalen Duren: Dealing with hamstring soreness

Duren is day-to-day with hamstring soreness, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.

This explains why Duren didn't start in Monday's preseason opener, and given the tricky nature of hamstring issues, we'd expect Duren to be brought along slowly through the preseason. If this is something that impacts him during the regular season, that would be a boon to Isaiah Stewart's value.

  • Jalen Duren C | DET

Pistons' Jalen Duren: Will come off the bench Monday

Duren will come off the bench for Monday's preseason opener against Memphis, Omari Sankofa II of the Detroit Free Press reports.

We wouldn't read too much into the starting lineup for a preseason opener. Duren started all 78 games he played in last season, so this is likely just J.B. Bickerstaff tinkering with some rotations for the Pistons' first exhibition game of the season.

  • Jock Landale C | ATL

Grizzlies' Jock Landale: Starting preseason opener

Landale is in the starting five for Monday's preseason game against the Pistons.

Landale will start over Vince Williams in the Grizzlies' preseason opener Monday, marking his debut with the team. The big man appeared in 42 regular-season games for the Rockets last season, averaging 4.8 points and 3.3 rebounds across 11.9 minutes per contest.
