Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer took his starting opportunity with Brandon Weeden out Sunday of Week 3 at Minnesota and ran with it. Well, actually he threw with it as he managed three touchdowns and 321 yards through the air.
Hoyer, who led the Browns to a 31-27 victory, may have done enough to claim the starting job going forward over Weeden as the Browns play against Cincinnati Week 4.
Hoyer went 30 for 54 in the game with three TDs and three interceptions for a QB rating of 68.5. He found Josh Gordon for a 47-yard touchdown in the first quarter and added a 19-yard TD to Jordan Cameron in the second. He then hit Cameron from 7 yards out for the game-winning score with less than a minute to play in the game.
The QB rushed once for minus-2 yards. His status as the starter will be up in the air heading into the Week 4 game against the Bengals.
