Smith (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Matt Schneidman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Smith suffered an Achilles injury during Sunday's loss to the Ravens and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve. The 28-year-old's absence could give Shilique Calhoun an opportunity for increased rotational snaps down the stretch.
