  • Saints' Tyrann Mathieu: Past illness
    By RotoWire

Mathieu (illness) was listed as a full practice participant Thursday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Mathieu didn't practice Wednesday while battling an illness, but it appears he's over the issue as he was able to practice without limitations Thursday. Barring any setbacks, the 2013 third-round pick should be good to go for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Mathieu's two interceptions through eight regular-season outings is second most on the Saints behind Paulson Adebo (leg).

Through the first eight games of the regular season, Mathieu has logged 33 tackles (26 solo), three passes defended, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

  • Saints' Tyrann Mathieu: Past forearm issue
    By RotoWire

Mathieu (forearm) was listed as a full participant on Monday's practice estimation. Mathieu sustained a forearm injury in the Saints' Week 6 loss to the Buccaneers, but Monday's full practice estimation suggests he's already moved past the issue. Expect the 12th-year pro to serve as the Saints' top free safety in Thursday night's matchup against the Broncos.

  • Coach Dennis Allen said Monday that he expects Mathieu (forearm) to play versus the Broncos on Thursday night, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Mathieu was forced out of Sunday's game versus the Buccaneers early by a wrist injury, but it's apparently not anything severe. If his coach's optimism proves to be misplaced, Johnathan Abram would be next in line at safety.
