Williams notched eight rushes for 39 yards during Sunday's 44-19 win versus the Cowboys. Williams once again handled cleanup duties in the Saints' backfield, as he tallied just two carries in the first half before going unheard from until midway through the fourth quarter. He also logged three consecutive carries before backup quarterback Jake Haener kneeled it out on the final offensive series of the game. Williams has primarily worked in garbage time in back-to-back blowout wins to begin the season for the Saints, as Alvin Kamara is still the clear-cut No. 1 running back after logging 20 carries for 115 yards and four touchdowns Sunday. Taysom Hill also tallied three carries before exiting with a chest injury that required further evaluation at a hospital postgame. Should Hill be sidelined moving forward, Williams could start to see playing time in more significant parts of games. His next opportunity will come at home versus the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 28.

Williams notched 11 carries for 38 yards and one touchdown and caught his only target for 13 yards during Sunday's 47-10 win against the Panthers. Williams logged the final touchdown of the game with a 14-yard score early in the fourth quarter. The 29-year-old brusier primarily helped salt away this blowout win for New Orleans, as he recorded just three carries for 11 yards in the first half. Meanwhile, Alvin Kamara shouldered the bulk of the workload when the game was still in hand, totaling 15 carries for 83 yards, and Taysom Hill logged four carries for 28 yards in the first half. Hill is expected to be an even bigger part of the rushing game this season with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, as the 34-year-old spent increased time working with the Saints' running backs and fullbacks during training camp and the preseason. So long as Kamara and Hill remain healthy, expect them to handle the primary rushing duties for the Saints.

Williams did not suit up for Sunday's 30-27 preseason loss to Tennessee. Williams was one of a long list of Saints who sat out Sunday, as the team rested the vast majority of starters and key backups. The 29-year-old finished the preseason with 11 carries for 52 yards and two catches for another three yards across two appearances. Williams' role as the No. 2 running back behind Alvin Kamara should be locked up heading into Week 1, as 2023 third-round Kendre Miller (hamstring) has been sidelined for nearly all of training camp and could even start out the regular season on IR, according to Jeff Nowak of The Big 870 New Orleans. This would leave Jordan Mims and/or James Robinson as the next likely options to serve as the No. 3 running back versus Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 8.

Williams rushed five times for 32 yards and caught his lone target for two yards in Sunday's preseason tilt against San Francisco. Williams continues to start for the Saints while Alvin Kamara (back) heals in anticipation of the regular season. The latter is currently not in jeopardy of missing any meaningful time, so fantasy managers shouldn't fret over the lingering injury designation. That said, it wouldn't hurt to target Williams if you have shares of Kamara, roster space permitting. Williams has produced in a starting role before, but the veteran would struggle to reach the amount of touches required if Kamara is ready to roll come Week 1.

Williams logged six carries for 20 yards and caught his only target for one yard during Saturday's 16-14 preseason win against Arizona. Williams did not start but was on the field with the Saints' first-team offense, as he alternated carries with Alvin Kamara on the team's first two offensive series. The 29-year-old backup stayed busy when he was on the field, as he was credited with just 11 offensive snaps. Unsurprisingly, Williams also got on the field before both Jordan Mims and James Robinson, and those two did not find much success either with 3.8 and 3.9 yards per carry, respectively. With second-year running back Kendre Miller currently sidelined by a hamstring injury, Williams looks like he's in solid position to retain his No. 2 running back job this season.
