  • Ryan Neal: Returning to Tampa Bay
    By RotoWire

The Buccaneers signed Neal to the practice squad Wednesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Neal played in 15 regular-season games for the Buccaneers in 2023 and finished with 76 tackles (52 solo). He didn't try out for a team during training camp, but he is back with Tampa Bay on the practice squad as the Bucs look to shore up the secondary amidst injuries to Mike Edwards (hamstring), Tykee Smith (knee) and Jordan Whitehead (pectoral).

  • Buccaneers' Ryan Neal: Downgraded to out
    By RotoWire

Neal (back) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports. The starting safety missed practice all week and will now sit out a game for the second time in 2023. Dee Delaney and Kaevon Merriweather should see more snaps in his absence.

  • Neal registered 13 tackles (10 solo) in Thursday's 24-18 loss to the Bills. Neal was second on the team in total tackles behind Lavonte David (14 tackles) on Thursday, and the former is second to the latter in tackles on the season with 56. Neal is well on his way to smashing his career-high 66 tackles registered last season and could break that number as soon as Week 9 when the Buccaneers face the Texans in Houston.

  • Neal (ribs) was a limited participant at practice Thursday. After he led Tampa Bay in tackles in Week 2, Neal's status for Week 3 now appears to be up in the air. He'll have two more chances to practice in full before Monday's game versus Philadelphia.

  • Neal recorded eight tackles (five solo), including one for loss, in the Buccaneers' 27-17 win over the Bears on Sunday. Neal followed up a solid six-tackle tally Week 1 against the Vikings with a team-high number of stops versus the Bears on Sunday. The veteran safety has allowed all four passes thrown his way in primary coverage thus far to be completed for 59 yards and a touchdown, but he's been a force in run support and should continue to have IDP relevance moving forward.
