The Browns signed Rosen to the practice squad Thursday. Rosen ultimately will re-join Cleveland on the team's practice squad after failing to carve out a roster spot behind Jacoby Brissett and Joshua Dobbs this preseason. The 25-year-old signal-caller should now serve as an emergency backup if one of the team's quarterbacks goes down with an injury at some point this regular season.

Rosen was waived by the Browns on Tuesday, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports. Rosen will look for a new organization after failing to make the Browns' final roster. The quarterback played in four games with the Falcons last season, passing for 19 yards while throwing two interceptions. Whichever team he ends up on will be his seventh since being drafted in 2018.

Rosen completed 7 of 20 passes for 88 yards in Sunday's 21-20 preseason loss to the Eagles. Rosen entered the game after Joshua Dobbs led the Browns to a 20-14 score midway through the third quarter. Although Rosen's first pass resulted in a 32-yard gain to Javon Wims, he barely managed to move the ball afterward. With Deshaun Watson suspended for Cleveland's first 11 games, Rosen and Dobbs are currently competing to serve as Jacoby Brissett's backup for the regular season. However, Dobbs clearly outperformed Rosen with Sunday's showing, as he completed 14 of 20 passes for 141 yards and rushed four times for 47 yards and a touchdown.

The Browns have signed Rosen. Rosen, who was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, saw action in four games with the Falcons last year, completing two of his 11 pass attempts for 19 yards with two interceptions. As the 2022 season approaches, the 25-year-old gives the Browns added quarterback depth behind Deshaun Watson (who faces a potential suspension) and Jacoby Brissett. In the event that Watson is suspended, either Rosen or Joshua Dobbs would be in line to serve as the team's No. 2 signal caller behind Brissett.

Rosen could be traded within the next week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The Dolphins reportedly have fielded some inquiries, perhaps benefiting from positive updates on Rosen coming out of training camp. It's even been suggested that Rosen could start out ahead of Tua Tagovailoa for the No. 2 quarterback job, but that obviously becomes a moot point if the 2018 first-round pick is traded to his third NFL team in as many years.
