Scarlett (knee) reverted to Miami's practice squad Tuesday and was subsequently placed on the practice squad injured list, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Scarlett was elevated to the active roster for Monday's win over the Saints for his season debut, and he played 16 snaps on special teams before suffering the knee injury. He's set to undergo surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

Myles Gaskin, Duke Johnson, Phillip Lindsay and Salvon Ahmed are all healthy, so Scarlett is unlikely to be much of a factor in Miami's backfield.

Even if the 25-year-old is elevated ahead of Sunday's game against the Jets, he'll likely serve in a depth capacity.

Scarlett, a 2019 fifth-rounder, logged four carries for nine yards in nine games during his rookie season with Carolina, but didn't suit up for any NFL regular-season action in 2020.

Scarlett spent the offseason with Miami, and he will get a chance to continue developing with the team as a member of the practice squad. Running backs Patrick Laird and Gerrid Doaks were also inked to the scout team.
