Keene (knee) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Keene tore his ACL in Saturday's exhibition win over the Giants and will now miss the entirety of the 2024 campaign. It's another tough break for the Virginia Tech product who has struggled to get his career on track since missing the 2021 campaign due to meniscus damage.

Keene (undisclosed) was on the field for 29 snaps in Friday's 20-12 preseason victory over the Steelers, per the NFL's official transaction log. Keene is competing with the likes of Cade Stover and Teagan Quitoriano (calf) for a delph role at tight end. He played just one regular-season game for Houston last season, but the team opted to give him another look with a reserve/future contract.

Keene played just one game with the Texans this season, but they apparently saw enough to give him a chance at a spot on their 53-man roster for 2024. He has good speed and agility, but he's only suited up for seven games since he was drafted in the third round by the Patriots in 2020.

Keene reverted to the Texans' practice squad Monday. Keene was added to the active roster ahead of Sunday's 30-27 win over the Bengals, failing to record any stats while playing eight snaps on offense and 14 with the special-teams unit. With Brevin Jordan (foot) uncertain for Houston's matchup with the Cardinals in Week 11, it's possible that Keene is once again asked to fill Jordan's spot.

Keene was elevated to the Texans' active roster Saturday. Keene has spent the entire season on Houston's practice squad, but he was elevated to the active roster, with Brevin Jordan (foot) ruled out. There's a possibility Keene is inactive, but it appears as though he is headed toward his 2023 debut Sunday against the Bengals.
