  • Banks (hip) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Madelyn Burke of MSG Network reports. Banks was limited in Thursday's session, and the full practice puts Banks in position to play Monday night against the Patriots. With Paulson Adebo (knee) out since Week 7, Banks has started each of the past four contests, seeing the vast majority of his snaps on the boundary.

  • Banks (hip) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Banks was unable to play Week 12 due to a hip injury, but he's making progress ahead of Monday's road matchup against the Patriots. The top slot corner will have two more opportunities to officially upgrade to full practice reps in preparation for Monday Night Football.

  • Banks (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Banks popped up on Thursday's practice report as a limited participant due to a hip injury. He was unable to practice Friday, and the injury is severe enough for the third-year corner to miss his first game of the regular season. Dru Phillips is slated to see more snaps in the secondary Sunday in Banks' absence.

  • Banks and Cor'Dale Flott are in a training camp battle for a starting cornerback spot, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Banks (14 starts) and Flott (10 starts) both worked primarily as starters last year, but one will lose that role after the Giants brought in Paulson Adebo during the offseason to be their top corner. Banks (52 tackles, 12 pass defenses) and Flott (53 stops, seven defensed passes) put up similar numbers in 2024, though they had just one interception between them as New York's secondary as a whole struggled to collect turnovers. Per Duggan, Banks and Flott have been alternating turns in the rotation during camp, so it appears this will be a genuine position battle throughout the preseason.

  • Banks totaled 52 tackles (39 solo) along with 12 defensed passes and one forced fumble in 14 games (all starts) during the 2024 campaign. Banks missed three games late in the season due to an injury to his ribs, but he started all 14 games for which he was active. His tackle total was slightly lower than the amount he logged (64) during his rookie 2023 campaign, but Banks did increase his number of defensed passes by one, and his total of 12 paced the Giants and tied for 18th in the NFL. Banks had some struggles during the campaign and was benched for the second half of Week 8 against Pittsburgh due to a perceived lack of effort, but the Giants invested a lot in him as a first-round selection in the 2023 draft, and he'll likely be back in a starting role in 2025, when he'll be in the third year of his rookie contract.
