  • Commanders' Jayden Daniels: QBs to Start
    • By Jamey Eisenberg

In two games since returning from his left-elbow injury, Daniels has scored at least 25 Fantasy points in each outing against the Giants in Week 5 and the 49ers in Week 6. He had a bye in Week 7, and I expect him to stay hot in Week 8 against Philadelphia. Daniels had 21.7 Fantasy points against the Eagles in Week 1, and he's averaging 27.2 Fantasy points per game in three-career outings against Philadelphia. The Eagles are No. 9 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and only Matthew Stafford in Week 4 failed to score at least 20.1 Fantasy points against Philadelphia this year.

  • Daniels completed 29 of 40 passes for 300 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding four rushes for 10 yards in the Commanders' 23-17 loss to the 49ers on Monday night. Daniels' final numbers won't displease fantasy managers by any stretch, but the athletic signal-caller didn't really get the Commanders' offense going until the second half. Daniels put the Commanders' first touchdown of the night on board in the waning seconds of the third quarter when he connected with Stefon Diggs from one yard out, and he followed it up with a 10-play, 90-yard march early in the fourth quarter that he capped off with a nine-yard touchdown toss to Rachaad White. However, Daniels and the Commanders came up empty on a subsequent 13-play drive that ended on downs, and the 2024 first-round pick then took a sack on the game's final play after triggering a 10-second runoff with an intentional grounding penalty on the prior snap. Despite the disappointing outcome, Daniels has been solid in his first two games back from an elbow injury, and he'll next face off with the Eagles at home on Sunday night, Nov. 1, following a Week 7 bye.

Daniels excelled as a rusher in Week 5 against the Giants with nine attempts for 103 yards and two touchdowns, and he added 199 passing yards on 17-of-25 completions. Daniels has now scored at least 21.7 Fantasy points in his two complete games this year, and he had 16.7 points in the first half against Dallas in Week 2 before injuring his left elbow. We hope he gets Stefon Diggs (hamstring) back for Week 6 at San Francisco, and Daniels should continue to use his legs against the 49ers. San Francisco has only allowed Jacoby Brissett in Week 3 to score more than 20 Fantasy points, but the 49ers have faced Malik Willis, Brissett, Bo Nix and Sam Darnold in their past four games. I'm willing to trust Daniels as a top-10 Fantasy quarterback in all leagues.

  • Daniels (elbow) completed 17 of 25 passes for 199 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing nine times for 103 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-27 tie against the Giants. He also threw a successful two-point conversion. Daniels wasn't afraid to run in his return from a two-game absence due to a dislocated left elbow. He scored second-half rushing touchdowns of 38 and 26 yards, the latter of which Daniels followed up with a two-point conversion to Terry McLaurin to give the Commanders a 14-point lead with 11:05 left in the fourth quarter. The Giants proceeded to erase that deficit and force OT, where Daniels drove the Commanders down to the Giants' 24-yard line with 55 seconds remaining, but Washington remarkably failed to get a game-winning field-goal attempt off, as the Commanders ran the clock down and then failed to stop the clock when Daniels went down inbounds on their final offensive play. The bizarre ending overshadows what was otherwise an encouraging performance from Daniels, who made it through the game without any physical setbacks and is set to start in Week 6 against the 49ers.

  • Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed Friday that Daniels (elbow) will start Sunday's game against the Giants. Daniels was injured just before halftime in Week 2 against the Cowboys and will return following a two-game absence. With Marcus Mariota dealing with a sprained MCL, Daniels' return comes at the right time for the Commanders. His insertion back under center will boost the entire offense, though Terry McLaurin (hamstring) is questionable and Stefon Diggs (hamstring) has been ruled out, downgrading Daniels' supporting cast in a big way.
