  Legette (hip) didn't practice Wednesday. Legette made an early exit from this past Sunday's loss to the Cowboys due to a groin injury, but it's been reclassified as a hip issue on the Panthers' first Week 16 injury report. Coach Dave Canales told Steve Reed of the Associated Press on Monday that the Panthers consider Legette week-to-week and unlikely to play Sunday against the Cardinals, so his lack of on-field work Wednesday isn't a surprise. Considering those comments, the Panthers seem likely to rule out Legette by week's end.

  Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Monday that Legette (groin) is week-to-week and expected to be ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. Canales said he would "love to have a chance for [Legette] to finish the season strongly," but the rookie first-round pick is expected to miss at least one contest due to the groin injury he sustained during Carolina's 30-14 loss to the Cowboys in Week 15. If Legette indeed isn't able to suit up versus Arizona, Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker and David Moore will be positioned as Bryce Young's clear top wide receivers, with Deven Thompkins acting in the No. 4 role.

• Panthers' Xavier Legette: Injures groin Sunday

  Legette suffered a groin injury during Sunday's contest against the Cowboys, Kassidy Hill of the Panthers' official site reports. Before he departed in the middle of the third quarter, Legette had two catches (on three targets) for seven yards and one carry for two yards. For as long as Legette is sidelined, Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, David Moore and Deven Thompkins are the healthy and available wide receivers for the Panthers.

• Panthers' Xavier Legette: Set for offseason wrist surgery

  Legette said Thursday that he plans to undergo surgery in the offseason to address ligament damage to his wrist, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports. Legette first injured the wrist during his third season of college at South Carolina in 2021 and suffered an aggravation in a Week 9 win over the Saints, but it hasn't resulted in him being limited over the Panthers' ensuing four games. He's not included on the Panthers' Week 15 injury report and should continue to play through the issue over the final four games of the season with no noticeable effects.

• Panthers' Xavier Legette: Struggles with drops in Week 14

  Legette caught two of eight targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 22-16 loss to the Eagles. The rookie wideout had trouble hanging onto the ball all day, but Legette's biggest drop came in the fourth quarter when he couldn't haul in what might have been a game-winning 32-yard touchdown in the final minute. Legette has still caught multiple passes in eight straight games, posting a 26-281-3 line on 46 targets over that stretch. He'll try to put his volume to better use in Week 15 against the Cowboys.
