LeSean McCoy: Wraps up productive career

Philadelphia announced LeSean McCoy will sign a one-day contract with the organization Friday and retire from the NFL as a member of the Eagles. After not receiving any offers to his liking in free agency this offseason, McCoy will call an end to a 12-year career that also included stops with the Bills, Chiefs and Buccaneers in addition to the Eagles. A 2009 second-round pick, McCoy enjoyed his most productive years in Philadelphia, earning both of his first-team All-Pro nods and three of his six Pro Bowl appearances as an Eagle. He retires as one of only five running backs in NFL history with at least 11,000 rushing yards and 500 receptions, with the other four being Hall of Famers (Marshall Faulk, LaDainian Tomlinson, Marcus Allen and Emmitt Smith).

LeSean McCoy: Looking for right situation

After contemplating retirement, LeSean McCoy confirmed he is now looking for the right situation in 2021, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports. "I've had some talks to my agent Drew Rosenahaus. I was contemplating retirement. I've had some teams reach out. I think right now it's just all about being in shape, being ready for the call and also the right road, the right fit," McCoy told NFL Network's MJ Acosta on NFL Total Access.McCoy is coming off his second straight Super Bowl run, going back-to-back with the Chiefs and Buccaneers over the past two seasons. The 33-year-old recorded 31 rushing yards across 10 games last year in Tampa Bay but could find a more prominent role on a team in need of backfield depth.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: No action for second straight SB

LeSean McCoy was active but did not log a snap during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday. The veteran has now been to two Super Bowls in which he hasn't logged a snap, as in addition to failing to get into Sunday's contest, he was a healthy scratch for the Chiefs' Super Bowl LIV win over the 49ers a year ago. After inking a one-year deal with the Buccaneers last offseason, McCoy ultimately recorded just 25 touches (10 rushes, 15 receptions) all season, as both subsequent signee Leonard Fournette and rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn ate into his opportunities. McCoy never touched the ball during Tampa Bay's postseason run, but he did display some explosiveness at times when seeing action in 2020. Now having carried the ball just 272 times over the last three seasons combined, the degree of wear and tear on the 32-year-old's body may arguably not be commensurate to what is considered an advanced age for a running back. Whether McCoy will have a chance to substantiate that in 2021 in Tampa Bay or elsewhere remains to be seen, however.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: One snap in conference title game

LeSean McCoy logged just one snap from scrimmage without a touch during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 31-26 win over the Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game. The veteran back was active for the second straight postseason contest, but just as in a divisional-round win over the Saints, McCoy didn't have a chance to touch the ball against the Packers. Given his sparse usage over the last several weeks, it appears likely McCoy could be headed for a quiet Super Bowl for the second straight year after being saddled with an inactive designation for the Buccaneers' upcoming title-game opponent, the Chiefs, in last season's edition of the contest.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: No action in playoff win

LeSean McCoy was active for Sunday's divisional-round win over the Saints but logged just two snaps from scrimmage and went without a carry or target. The veteran running back was in uniform at the expense of rookie Ke'Shawn Vaughn, but McCoy never saw a touch during the contest. Coach Bruce Arians once again may opt to have McCoy in uniform in Sunday's NFC Championship Game due to his experience, but unless injuries strike Leonard Fournette and/or Ronald Jones, the 32-year-old may play a minimal-to-non-existent role.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: Practices in full

LeSean McCoy (illness) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.McCoy was forced to miss last weekend's wild-card win over Washington due to an ailment, but he now appears back to full health. With Ronald Jones (quadriceps) still not practicing, it's possible that the veteran could get a chance at handling an expanded depth role along with Ke'Shawn Vaughn during Sunday's divisional-round game against the Saints. Of course, Leonard Fournette would be the clear favorite to lead Tampa Bay's backfield if Jones is limited or can't go.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: Downgraded to out

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ruled LeSean McCoy (illness) out for Saturday's wild-card matchup at Washington, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.McCoy was initially listed as questionable on Thursday's injury report, but it appears that his ailment is severe enough to rule out any chances of playing this weekend. The veteran's absence could open up more opportunities for Ke'Shawn Vaughn, who stands to operate in a No. 3 role behind Ronald Jones and Leonard Fournette.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: Questionable with ailment

LeSean McCoy (illness) didn't practice Thursday and is questionable for Saturday's game in Washington.McCoy missed Tuesday's practice with a "non-injury" designation before participating fully Wednesday, but it appears as though he's now dealing with an illness. If he's unable to receive full medical clearance in time for Saturday's wild-card matchup, Ke'Shawn Vaughn could end up handling increased duties as the No. 3 option in Tampa Bay's backfield.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: Resumes practicing fully

LeSean McCoy (non-injury related) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.McCoy sat out Tuesday's session, but his full activity a day later implies he was merely receiving a maintenance day. The veteran running back should be available for Saturday's wild-card game in Washington, though he may not necessarily be active for the contest if head coach Bruce Arians prefers to proceed with Leonard Fournette as the team's primary passing-down back.

Buccaneers' LeSean McCoy: Listed as DNP

LeSean McCoy (non-injury) was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's practice estimate, Carmen Vitali of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' official site reports.McCoy was inactive for this past Sunday's game against the Falcons and his presence on the Buccaneers' estimated injury report Tuesday suggests that the running back isn't a lock to be available for Saturday night's playoff opener against Washington.
