Colts part ways with RB Vick Ballard on Tuesday
Running back Vick Ballard (hamstring) was waived by the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, NFL.com reports. Since leading the Colts in rushing in 2012, Ballard has been contained to one game due to ACL and Achilles injuries. He entered this season with a nagging hamstring concern, which tested the organizations' patience enough to jettison the running back in the early going. Currently on waivers, another team will have to weigh the risks versus rewards due to his rich medical chart.

Colts backup RB job complicated by injuries to Herron, Ballard
Injuries to Indianapolis Colts running backs Dan Herron (shoulder) and Vick Ballard (hamstring) marred the team's preseason finale Thursday night against Cincinnati. Ballard actually re-injured the hamstring that had kept him sidelined last week against St. Louis. He was hoping to remain healthy against the Bengals in an attempt to land the backup job to featured back Frank Gore. The injuries to the two backs complicates that competition.

Colts' Vick Ballard said he'll be 100 percent by training camp
Indianapolis Colts running back Vick Ballard said he's continued to stay on track with his recovery from a ruptured Achilles, according to Scout.com. Ballard has missed just about all of the previous two seasons due to injuries. He tore his Achilles before the 2014 season and was unable to play. When training camp comes around, it will mark almost a year from when he sustained the injury. He said he should be good to go for the start of camp, though. “Yeah, definitely man,” Ballard said. “Training camp is a long time from now, so truth be told, I probably could participate now, but there’s no rush. Just trying to take my time with it.” Ballard led the Colts in rushing as a rookie in 2012 with 814 yards and two touchdowns. He only played in one game in 2013 before tearing his ACL in a practice the following week. His Achilles tear came during the 2014 preseason.
