Raiders' Rufus Johnson: Signs with Raiders
Rufus Johnson agreed to a deal with the Oakland Raiders on Friday, Jimmy Durkin of the Bay Area News reports.Johnson last took the field during the regular season with the Patriots for one game in 2015 and was most recently waived by the Redskins in May. The 26-year-old figures to be a long shot for the final roster, but he'll compete for a spot providing depth at linebacker.

Rufus Johnson was waived by Washington on Tuesday, the team's official site reports.Johnson was waived alongside linebacker Steven Daniels after the Redskins selected Ryan Anderson in the second round of last weekend's draft.

Three injured on inactive list Thursday for Patriots
Three injured players have been placed on the inactive list by the New England Patriots for their season opener Thursday night against Pittsburgh. They are running back Travaris Cadet (hamstring), defensive lineman Trey Flowers (knee) and safety Tavon Wilson (quad). The healthy inactives are offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, defensive lineman Khyri Thornton, linebacker Rufus Johnson and cornerback Justin Coleman.

Saints pare roster to 75
The New Orleans Saints waived or released cornerback Rod Sweeting, linebackers Victor Butler, Rufus Johnson and Kevin Reddick, quarterback Logan Kilgore, tight end Travis Beckum, offensive tackle Manase Foketi and defensive tackle George Uko. The moves bring New Orleans' roster to the mandated 75-man limit.

Saints make roster moves
The New Orleans Saints put linebacker Parys Haralson on injured reserve. He tore a pectoral muscle in the playoff win in Philadelphia. To replace him, the Saints promoted linebacker Rufus Johnson from the practice squad. New Orleans also waived safety Isa Abdul-Quddus and signed safety Jordan Pugh.

Courtney Roby among Saints cuts
The New Orleans Saints terminated the contract of Courtney Roby, a longtime special teams ace and a wide receiver for New Orleans. Other contracts terminated: defensive end Jay Richardson, cornerback Chris Carr and safety Jim Leonhard.
