Buccaneers CB Tim Jennings scratched for Sunday

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Tim Jennings is a no-go Sunday against Washington Huskies.Jennings wasn't listed on the injury report this week, so it seems likely that coach Lovie Smith is simply dumping the veteran from his nickel back role. In five games this season, Jennings has collected 17 tackles and knocked down one pass, but hadn't provided the solid coverage on the outside that he displayed during back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons with the Chicago Bears.

Bears CB Tim Jennings to see nickel role often this season

Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings will be chasing around slot receivers more often this season as he expands his game to include more nickle coverage, per ESPN.com. Jennings anticipates that this season, with a new defensive scheme, he will be placed in nickle coverage more then ever. “With the defense we’ll be running now, it [nickelback] fits well to what I’m trying to do, what they’ll want me to do,” Jennings said. “I played a little bit [of nickel] last year, but I’m looking forward to playing more this year.” Jennings recorded 50 tackles and a forced fumble in 16 games for the Bears last season.

Report: Bears' Tim Jennings has DWI case resolved

Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings wasn't at the opening of the team's training camp, as he wrapped up an offseason legal matter.  Jennings was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of DWI after he was stopped for going 100 mph on a Georgia highway. He admitted to driving too fast but maintained that he hadn't been drinking.  On Thursday, TMZ reported that Jennings entered a guilty plea on reckless driving charges and the DWI charge was dropped.  Jennings claimed he was speeding, because he was late to a parent-teacher conference.

Bears CB Tim Jennings could transition into slot role

Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings is "still trying to figure out" where he will fit into the secondary this season, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. The nine-year veteran, who is entering his sixth season in the Windy City, has 95 career starts and led the league in interceptions in 2012. He is even a two-time Pro Bowler. But he spent significant time as the slot corner in minicamp. That's an unsatisfying role for him that he just might be forced to embrace. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio prefers his outside corners tall and physical. Jennings is 5-8, 185 pounds. He might still earn an outside role opposite Kyle Fuller, but do achieve that goal he must at the very least outperform free agent pickup Alan Ball, who better fits the ideal description. If the words of new coach John Fox are any indication, that's unlikely to happen. "Dimension-wise, he's built like a nickel corner," Fox said. "He's played it before." Jennings has started all but three games over the last seven years.

Report: Bears CB Tim Jennings had arthroscopic knee surgery

Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his knee, according to a report from ESPN Chicago. Early on Friday, Jennings posted a photo of himself on Twitter and made mention of a possible surgery, though that post was later deleted. The procedure isn't considered serious and won't have any lasting effects that would keep Jennings out of offseason activities. Jennings totaled 66 tackles, eight pass breakups and one forced fumble during the 2014 season.
