Colts release linebacker Shaun Phillips
The Indianapolis Colts announced the release of linebacker Shaun Phillips on Monday. Phillips appeared in five games during the 2014 season and totaled seven tackles. During his 11-year career, Phillips recorded 561 tackles and 81 1/2 sacks.

Tennessee Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said Monday linebacker Shaun Phillips suffered a hip injury and linebacker Quentin Groves suffered an ankle injury Sunday against the Redskins. Phillips is headed for an MRI and Whisenhunt added he didn't know the status of either player for Week 8 vs. Houston.

Broncos want Shaun Phillips for situational role
Denver Broncos general manager John Elway said the team is interested in re-signing defensive end Shaun Phillips for a situational role. "Shaun was really signed as a rotational-type guy last year and we'd be looking to see if he would play that same role," Elway said, per ESPN.com. "The thought process with Shaun is we'll see how things go, but I'd like to have him back. But it's a matter of who's out there and what opportunities he has, too." Phillips had 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception last year. He'll turn 33 in May.

Broncos DST dominates in first half
The Denver Broncos DST was utterly dominant in the first half of the playoff win over the Chargers, allowing 45 total yards. Denver wasn't able to sustain that pace as San Diego scored 17 second-half points. The Broncos did not produce a turnover but got four sacks, two by defensive end Shaun Phillips. Denver allowed 259 total yards. The Broncos DST faces a tougher challenge in next Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.
