Colts' Matt Gay: Should be good to go Sunday

Gay (quadriceps) was a full participant during practice Thursday, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.

Gay didn't practice Wednesday, but his return to a full session Thursday is an encouraging sign that suggests he'll be handling kicking duties for the Colts on Sunday against the Bears. After missing the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Texans, Gay returned to action for the Week 2 loss to the Packers and knocked down his lone extra-point try and one of two field-goal attempts.

Colts' Matt Gay: Kicking at Thursday's practice

Gay (quadriceps) is handling kicking duties at practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Gay couldn't practice Wednesday, so it's encouraging to see him back on the field Thursday. The veteran kicker missed Week 1 due to offseason sports hernia surgery and is now nursing a new quad issue, but he looks to be making good progress ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bears. The Colts also have kicker Spencer Shrader on the practice squad.

  • Chargers' Cameron Dicker: Misses first PAT of his career

Dicker made both of his field-goal attempts but missed one of three extra-point tries in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Panthers.

Dicker missed the first point-after attempt of his NFL career after the Chargers' opening-drive touchdown. He was perfect afterward though, making field goals from 46 and 42 yards out, while also making the PATs on the team's other two touchdowns.

  • Joshua Karty K | ARI

Rams' Joshua Karty: Sits out practice Wednesday

Karty (groin) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

The Rams' rookie kicker tweaked his groin in last Sunday's 41-10 loss to the Cardinals. Through two contests, Karty has drilled all three of his field-goal attempts and all three of his extra-point attempts. Head coach Sean McVay said earlier in the week that he expects Karty to be available for Sunday's game against the 49ers, but the Rams signed Tanner Brown to the practice squad Tuesday as a potential replacement if Karty doesn't bounce back from the groin injury as anticipated.

Colts' Matt Gay: Unable to practice Wednesday

Gay (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.

Gay is dealing with a quad injury after missing Week 1 while recovering from sports hernia surgery. The veteran missed a field-goal attempt wide left from 50 yards during Indianapolis' loss to Green Bay, though he converted his only other attempt from 34 yards out, plus his lone extra-point try. Gay will have two more chances to improve his practice level ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears.

  • Matt McCrane K | DET

    Matt McCrane: Gets new opportunity

McCrane signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday.

McCrane hasn't kicked in an NFL game since 2018 and has since bounced around multiple franchises as a member of the practice squad. Most recently though he was a member of the DC Defenders in the UFL. The addition of the Kansas State product comes after the Giants signed Greg Joseph from Detroit's practice squad to replace Graham Gano who is out with a hamstring injury.

  • Graham Gano K | NYG

Giants' Graham Gano: Heads to IR

The Giants placed Gano (hamstring) on injured reserve Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.

Gano's move to IR ensures that he'll miss at least the next four games while he recovers from the right hamstring strain he sustained during the opening kickoff of this past Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. The Giants replaced Gano on the 53-man roster with Greg Joseph, who was signed off the Lions' practice squad and will take over as New York's kicker beginning with this Sunday's game in Cleveland.

  • Greg Joseph K | LV

Giants' Greg Joseph: Replacing injured Gano in New York

The Giants signed Joseph off the Lions' practice squad on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

After losing the battle for the Packers' kicking job at the end of training camp, Joseph had to wait just two weeks before getting an opportunity with another team. With the Giants, he'll be serving as a short-term replacement for Graham Gano, who is expected to miss multiple weeks after straining his right hamstring in this past Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Commanders. The 30-year-old Joseph has appeared in 51 games with the Browns, Titans and Vikings over parts of five NFL seasons, converting 82.6 percent of his field-goal tries.

  • Younghoe Koo K | NYG

Falcons' Younghoe Koo: Perfect in Monday's win

Koo made all three field-goal attempts and his only extra-point try during Monday's 22-21 win over the Eagles.

In order, Koo made field goals from 39, 22 and 34 yards. Arguably, his most difficult kick was the go-ahead extra point with 34 seconds left in the fourth quarter after Kirk Cousins found Drake London wide-open for a touchdown. Koo also had an extra-point opportunity taken away, as the Falcons aggressively decided to go for a two-point conversion after taking a 15-10 lead late in the third quarter. Koo has yet to miss a kick through two games but hasn't attempted a field goal past 40 yards.

  • Cowboys' Brandon Aubrey: Busy in Sunday's loss

Aubrey converted his only extra-point try and all four of his field-goal attempts in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the Saints.

The Cowboys had trouble finishing off drives Sunday, giving Aubrey plenty of chances to show off his big leg -- his longest field goal went for 52 yards in the first quarter. His 28 points through two games leads all kickers, following up a rookie season in 2023 that saw him lead the NFL with 157 points. Aubrey could be busy again in Week 3 against a Ravens team that's allowed six field-goal attempts through two weeks.
