  • B.T. Potter K | PIT

Steelers' B.T. Potter: Signs with Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh signed Potter as an undrafted free agent Sunday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.

Potter connected on 73 of his 97 field-goal attempts and 234 of 235 PATs during his career at Clemson. He made 34 tries from beyond 40 yards and nine attempts from 50-plus. The 23-year-old will compete with incumbent veteran Chris Boswell, who made just 71 percent of his field goals in 2022, for the starting placekicking job in 2023.

  • Nick Folk K | ATL

Patriots' Nick Folk: Faces competition from rookie

Folk now faces competition for the Patriots' kicking job following the selection of Chad Ryland in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Chad Graff of The Athletic reports.

Folk, who turns 39 in November, is under contract with New England this coming season on the heels of a 2022 campaign in which he made 32 of his 37 field-goal attempts, while hitting 32 of his 35 extra-point tries in 17 games. As long as he remains on the team's roster, Folk will have a chance to compete for the team's kicking job, but given that the Patriots traded up to land Ryland, both Graff and Mike Reiss of ESPN.com consider the rookie the favorite to earn the assignment.

  • Jack Podlesny: Heading to Minnesota

Podlesny is slated to sign with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent.

Podlesny led the nation with 151 points scored as a senior in 2022, going 26-for-31 (83.9 percent) on field goals and 73-for-74 (98.6 percent) on extra points, which earned him the SEC Special Teams Player of the Year award. He has experience kicking in high-stakes contests during Georgia's two straight national championship runs but had some hiccups along the way, including going 2-for-4 on field goals in Georgia's narrow victory over Ohio State in the 2022 College Football Playoff semifinal. He was consistent in extra points and demonstrated good hang time and touchback numbers on kickoffs but has struggled on longer kicks, making just 54 percent of his field-goal tries from 40-plus yards.

  • Packers' Anders Carlson: Kicker heads to Green Bay

The Packers selected Carlson in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 207th overall.

Carlson is the younger brother of Daniel Carlson, who is one of the NFL's best kickers for the Raiders. The younger Carlson heads for a somewhat colder climate, where the Packers will presumably consider him as the potential successor to Mason Crosby. Carlson struggled with his accuracy at times at Auburn but has a great deal of kicking experience.

  • Chad Ryland K | ARI

Patriots' Chad Ryland: New kicker in New England

The Patriots selected Ryland in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 112nd overall.

The Patriots traded up with the Jets to make Ryland the second kicker selected in the 2023 NFL Draft. It's a curious decision given Nick Folk still remains on New England's roster, but with one year remaining on the two-year extension he signed back in March of 2022, it seems clear the Patriots are planning ahead when it comes to their specialists. Ryland transferred to Maryland in his final collegiate season and converted 19 of his 23 field-goal attempts, but he made just three of his six tries from 50-plus yards out.

  • Jake Moody K | WAS

49ers' Jake Moody: New kicker in Bay Area

The 49ers selected Moody in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 99th overall.

Third round is early for a kicker, and San Francisco has limited draft capital this year, so using it at this position is an interesting choice. Still, Robbie Gould is gone and San Francisco needed to bring in competition for Zane Gonzalez. Moody was impressive in his time at Michigan, as he converted 87 percent of his field-goal attempts and all 116 of his extra-point tries.

  • Tyler Bass K | BUF

Bills' Tyler Bass: Signs four-year extension

Bass signed a four-year extension worth up to $21 million Thursday, Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com reports.

Bass has spent the first three years of his professional career in Buffalo. He has emerged as one of the league's most accurate kickers in that span, making 88 and 87 percent of his kicks in the last two seasons, respectively. Under the terms of his extension, which keeps with the Bills through the 2027 season, the 26-year-old has been rewarded with at least $12.3 million in guaranteed money.

  • Buccaneers' Chase McLaughlin: Signing with Bucs

The Buccaneers have agreed to terms with McLaughlin, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

The 26-year-old is coming off a 2022 season in which he made 30 of 36 field-goal attempts in 16 games with the Colts. With Ryan Succop no longer in Tampa Bay, McLaughlin is slated to top his new team's kicker depth chart, with Jake Verity currently on hand as a depth option.

  • 49ers' Zane Gonzalez: Dealt to 49ers

Gonzalez, who previously appeared set to be released by the Panthers, was instead traded to the 49ers on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Gonzalez missed the majority of the 2022 season with a groin injury. Instead of bringing him back, the Panthers opted to re-sign his replacement, Eddy Pineiro after he drilled 33 of 35 field-goal attempts and 30 of 32 extra-point tries across 17 games. Gonzalez joins a 49ers roster that was previously without a kicker, and it remains to be seen if San Francisco brings any training camp competition to challenge him.

  • Zane Gonzalez: Set to be released

The Panthers are slated to release Gonzalez, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After missing most of the 2022 season with a groin injury, the Panthers decided to release Gonzalez and re-sign Eddy Pineiro. Pineiro's success in relief of Gonzalez last year likely led to the anticipated release of the 27-year-old kicker, who Rapoport relays is now fully healthy as he seeks a new squad for the 2023 campaign.
