  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Vikings' Kirk Cousins: Deceptive numbers in Week 1 loss

Cousins completed 19 of 25 passes for 259 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in the Vikings' 43-34 loss to the Packers on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 34 yards and threw a two-point conversion pass.

Fantasy managers were undoubtedly left mostly satisfied with Cousins' performance, considering he was involved in three scoring plays overall. However, in a real-world football sense, Cousins was less than effective, with his trio of scoring tosses (including his two-point pass) to Adam Thielen all coming in the fourth quarter when the Vikings had little realistic chance to mount a successful comeback. Cousins did average an impressive 10.4 yards per attempt while completing passes of 22, 29 and 37 yards to Kyle Rudolph, Bisi Johnson and Thielen, respectively, but he'll look to keep Minnesota's offense on steadier footing in a Week 2 interconference battle against the Colts next Sunday.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: Struggles in Week 1 loss

Darnold completed 21 of 35 passes for 215 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 27-17 loss to Buffalo. He also rushed once for six yards.

Darnold got off to a dreadful start, but he finally settled down in the two-minute drill to lead his team to a field goal before halftime after throwing an interception earlier in the second quarter. He pulled the Jets back within 11 points with a 69-yard touchdown to Jamison Crowder in the third quarter, on which the receiver did most of the work after the catch. While Darnold has been hampered by a dearth of weapons -- which could get even worse with Le'Veon Bell sustaining a hamstring injury in this one -- the third-year quarterback also shoulders a significant share of the blame for New York's offensive struggles. Things don't get any easier in Week 2 with the 49ers coming to town.

  • Josh Allen QB | BUF

Bills' Josh Allen: Over 300 yards for first time

Allen completed 33 of 46 passes for a career-high 312 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Jets. He also rushed 14 times for 57 yards and a touchdown while losing two fumbles.

Allen consistently kept passing plays alive with his escapability and topped 300 passing yards for the first time in his career while also providing most of Buffalo's rushing production himself. He bounced back beautifully after fumbling on the Bills' first drive, leading his team into the end zone on each of the next three possessions thanks to a two-yard rushing score followed by a four-yard touchdown pass to Zack Moss and a 15-yard toss to John Brown. Allen was on his way to a fourth consecutive scoring drive but lost his second fumble with less than two minutes left before halftime. While he still struggles with turnovers, that flaw is overshadowed by Allen's tremendous rushing production from the quarterback position, and he appears to be taking the next step as a passer heading into a Week 2 meeting with the Dolphins.

  • Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN

Bears' Mitchell Trubisky: Week 1 hero

Trubisky completed 20 of 32 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns while adding 26 yards on the ground in Chicago's 27-23 victory over the Lions on Sunday.

After struggling through the first three quarters, Trubisky rewarded fantasy managers who started him by throwing three fourth-quarter touchdown strikes to pull out the victory for Chicago. Although there's no way to know if he'll retain the starting job for the long term, it would be a surprise if he wasn't under center in Week 2 against the Giants at Soldier Field,. However, he offers little consistent upside, making him useful only in leagues that start two quarterbacks.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Starts off season in stellar form

Rodgers completed 32 of 44 passes for 364 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Packers' 43-34 win over the Vikings on Sunday. He also rushed once for two yards.

The perennial Pro Bowler was in pristine, vintage form to kick off the new campaign, shrugging off the lack of a consistent No. 2 receiver and proven reliable primary tight end to repeatedly eviscerate the Vikings secondary. Rodgers connected with seven different Packers, and the majority of his attention unsurprisingly focused on Davante Adams, whom he hit on 14 occasions for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Rodgers was able to do damage at varying depths of target as well, as his scoring tosses came from 24, 45, one and four yards. With this outstanding performance under his belt, he'll take on the challenge of putting together a fitting encore when he and the Packers face off with another NFC North rival in the Lions at Lambeau Field in Week 2 next Sunday.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Remarkable in win over Falcons

Wilson completed 31 of 35 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns in Sunday's 38-25 win over the Falcons.

With potentially the best set of pass catchers in his career, Wilson was given a prime opportunity to showcase his talents Sunday as head coach Pete Carroll called just 17 run plays. The star quarterback came out of the gate hot, tossing two touchdowns to Chris Carson before he threw his first incompletion, and he added a 28-yard carry in the first half that put him over 4,000 rushing yards in his career. His efficiency ranked supreme, as he completed 88.6 percent of his passes -- the third-highest rate for a single game (35 attempts minimum) in NFL history -- and averaged a whopping 9.2 yards per attempt. While this was a favorable matchup against the Falcons, it's encouraging to see that Carroll willing to throw the ball early in games. The Seahawks host a much tougher Patriots defense in Week 2.

  • Browns' Baker Mayfield: Turns in dud in opener

Mayfield completed 21 of 39 passes for 189 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the Browns' 38-6 loss to the Ravens on Sunday. He also rushed twice for three yards.

For all the talk about a much more structured and likely efficient offense under new coach Kevin Stefanski, the Browns and Mayfield disappointingly began the 2020 campaign looking like they did much of 2019 under one-and-done head man Freddie Kitchens. Mayfield's lackluster line was representative of the caliber of performance he put forth, and naturally the quality of his opponent had a part to play in his struggles as well. The third-year quarterback took two sacks overall, and while he was able to connect with nine different pass catchers, he averaged a meager 4.8 yards per attempt. Mayfield and his teammates will look to regroup quickly, as another AFC North battle awaits Thursday night at home against the Bengals in Week 2.

  • Lamar Jackson QB | BAL

Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Picks apart Cleveland

Jackson completed 20 of 25 pass attempts for 275 yards and three touchdowns, while also running for 45 yards on seven rush attempts during Sunday's 38-6 win against the Browns.

The 2019 MVP was pulled late in the fourth quarter for Robert Griffin, as he had already done his job in leading Baltimore to a 32-point lead, handing the Browns an NFL record 16th-consecutive winless Week 1 in the process. Jackson is now 14-2 in his last 16 regular-season starts, and excluding a 28-12 loss to Tennessee in the AFC divisional round, he has three-plus passing touchdowns in four straight contests dating back to Week 14 of last season. Next up is a showdown against the Texans, a defense that was tied for the fourth-most passing touchdowns allowed to quarterbacks during 2019.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Panthers' P.J. Walker: Inactive against Raiders

Walker (coach's decision) is inactive for the team's Week 1 contest against the Raiders, Myles Simmons of the Panthers' official site reports.

Walker was battling Will Grier for the backup quarterback job throughout training camp. Though Walker did enough to earn a spot on the roster, Grier beat him out serve as the backup quarterback in Week 1 against the Raiders.

  • Will Grier QB | CAR

Panthers' Will Grier: Backing up Bridgewater on Sunday

Grier will be the No. 2 quarterback behind Teddy Bridgewater for Sunday's game versus the Raiders, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.

Grier predictably beat out XFL star P.J. Walker for the backup role to Bridgewater. The 2019 third-round pick logged 87 snaps over two games in his rookie season, and he completed 54 percent of his passes and recorded 4.4 yards per attempt, zero touchdowns and four interceptions.
