  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Listed as limited Wednesday

Rudolph (concussion) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday.

Per Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rudolph remains in concussion protocol, but the QB's mere presence at practice Wednesday after absorbing a helmet-to-helmet hit in Sunday's overtime loss to the Ravens is a good sign. It remains to be seen, however, if he'll be cleared for this weekend's game against the Chargers. If the team elects to play it safe with Rudolph and hold him out versus Los Angeles with a Week 7 bye on tap, Devlin Hodges would be in line to draw the starting assignment.

  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Redskins' Case Keenum: Gets in full practice Wednesday

Keenum (foot) practiced in full Wednesday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.

Earlier Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Keenum is on pace to start Week 6 in Miami after taking a seat this past Sunday in the Redskins' loss to the Patriots. With an uncapped practice under his belt, Keenum proved the health of his right foot, which had been encased in a walking boot both of the previous two Wednesdays. Now, we'll await interim head coach Bill Callahan's decision on the Redskins' starting quarterback at some point in the next two days.

  • Browns' Baker Mayfield: Not listed on injury report

Mayfield (shoulder) wasn't listed Wednesday on the Browns' initial Week 6 injury report, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Though he took all but three of the Browns' offensive snaps in Monday's 31-3 loss to the 49ers, Mayfield was spotted with a heavy wrap on his right shoulder and was walking gingerly while sporting a sleeve on his left leg following the game. The fact that the quarterback was a little banged up coming out of the loss wasn't surprising, given that coach Freddie Kitchens acknowledged Mayfield took "too many hits unnecessarily" in Week 5, per Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer. With no listed injuries to contend with now, however, Mayfield can practice fully this week in the hopes of bouncing back Sunday against the 4-1 Seahawks, who have given up an average of 270.6 passing yards per game to date.

  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Manages to practice Wednesday

Rudolph (concussion) was able to practice in some capacity Wednesday, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Rudolph remains in the concussion protocol after suffering a helmet-to-helmet hit during Sunday's loss to the Ravens, but his ability to log any on-field work just a few days later is certainly encouraging. A return to practice won't guarantee Rudolph's availability for Week 6 against the Chargers, however, as he'll need to gain clearance from an independent neurologist before receiving the green light to dress in the contest. Undrafted rookie Devlin Hodges would draw the start under center if Rudolph can't go.

  • Colt McCoy QB | ARI

Redskins' Colt McCoy: Back to bench

McCoy is expected to assume a reserve role Sunday in Miami with Case Keenum (foot) likely to return from a one-game absence, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

In his first action of the season this past Sunday, McCoy had a tough go of it in a blowout loss to the Patriots, completing 18 of 27 passes for 119 yards and one interception. The Redskins proceeded to fire Jay Gruden in the wake of that contest, promoting Bill Callahan to interim head coach in the process. Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Callahan will announce a starting quarterback "later this week," but it appears McCoy will be the second-stringer, at best, this weekend.

  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Could practice Wednesday

Though Rudolph remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, he has a chance to practice Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

That's encouraging, though Rudolph -- who looked very wobbly after absorbing a helmet-to-helmet in Sunday's overtime loss to the Ravens -- still has some hurdles to clear before he can gain clearance for this weekend's game against the Chargers. If the team elects to play it safe with Rudolph and hold him out versus Los Angeles with a Week 7 bye looming, Devlin Hodges would get the starting assignment.

  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Redskins' Case Keenum: In line for Week 6 start

Keenum (foot) is expected to start Sunday's contest at Miami, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Keenum has been battling a foot injury for a few weeks and even sat out the Week 5 loss to the Patriots. The fact that he was present at Wednesday's practice should bolster his odds of suiting up in Week 6, per Ben Standig of The Athletic. Assuming Keenum gets through prep unscathed over the next few days, he'll push Colt McCoy back to a reserve role while rookie signal-caller Dwayne Haskins assumes third-string duties.

  • Mitch Trubisky QB | TEN

Bears' Mitchell Trubisky: Looking good for Week 7

The Bears' decision to release third-string quarterback Tyler Bray on Tuesday suggests Trubisky (shoulder) is expected to return Week 7 against the Saints, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.

The Bears get a well-timed Week 6 bye after losing to the Raiders in London on Sunday. Trubisky is recovering from a dislocation and slight labrum tear in his left shoulder, and while he may not be back to 100 percent yet, he should be ready to return for the Oct. 20 home date versus New Orleans. If not, Chase Daniel will get another start.

  • Nick Fitzgerald: Released from practice squad

Fitzgerald (hamstring) was released from the Bucs' practice squad on Tuesday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.

Fitzgerald was being developed into a hybrid QB/TE role, somewhat like Taysom Hill's role with the Saints, but the Bucs have opted to move on. The Mississippi State product will now look for a new opportunity.

  • Kyle Allen QB | BUF

Panthers' Kyle Allen: Gets another week as starter

Coach Ron Rivera confirmed that Allen would remain Carolina's starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with Cam Newton (foot) not scheduled to join the Panthers in London, Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Newton's slim chance at playing in Week 6 improved Tuesday after he was spotted at practice without a walking boot on his left foot, but Rivera quickly dismissed the notion of the signal-caller returning after a three-game absence due to the Lisfranc injury. Allen's fourth start of the season thus awaits him in London, where he'll look to shake off two straight lackluster outings in which he's combined to account for only one touchdown against three turnovers (all lost fumbles) while averaging a pedestrian 6.4 yards per attempt. The Panthers have still notched a win I each of the past two weeks largely on the Herculean efforts of Christian McCaffrey, who has shouldered an even heavier load than normal (46 carries, 16 receptions) during that stretch.
