Winston is expected to remain the starter despite the Giants adding J.J. McCarthy via a trade from Minnesota on Monday, and New York's upcoming schedule is great, with games against Arizona, Washington and New Orleans in the next three weeks. Winston is worth adding for 1 percent of your remaining FAAB in deeper leagues, and he could be started if needed against the Cardinals in Week 4. In Superflex and two-quarterback leagues, you can stash McCarthy (3 percent rostered) in case he eventually takes over for Winston later in the year.

Head coach John Harbaugh reaffirmed that Winston is the Giants' starting quarterback after the team acquired J.J. McCarthy from the Vikings on Monday, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.
While stepping in for the injured Jaxson Dart (knee) in Week 3, Winston threw for just 118 yards on 22 pass attempts in adverse weather conditions during the Giants' 12-7 win over the Titans. Despite his pedestrian numbers, Winston played turnover-free football, and that performance looks as though it will give him some job security even after the Giants added McCarthy, a 2024 first-round draft pick, to their quarterback room. Even though Dart is likely out for the season, Winston will still likely need to limit mistakes and keep the Giants competitive in his future starts in order to ward off McCarthy from supplanting him on the depth chart. Next up for Winston and the Giants is a home date versus the 1-2 Cardinals this Sunday at MetLife Stadium.

Winston has started nine games in 2024 and 2025 for the Giants and Browns, and he scored at least 19.3 Fantasy points in five of them.
Winston could be in line for an extended run as the Giants' starting quarterback after Jaxson Dart sustained a more serious knee injury than anticipated in Monday's 28-6 loss to the Rams, Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network report.
After exiting in the first quarter Monday, Dart received a preliminary diagnosis of a sprained MCL, an injury that typically entails a multi-week absence. Unfortunately for Dart, follow-up tests Tuesday seemingly revealed additional damage to his knee that could potentially lead to season-ending surgery. Dart will likely receive additional medical opinions before a treatment plan and recovery timeline is established, but with an extended absence on tap, the door is open for Winston to direct the New York offense beginning with Sunday's game versus Tennessee. Winston averaged a healthy 8.6 yards per attempt between two starts and one brief appearance off the bench with the Giants a season ago, but he was highly inefficient in relief of Dart in his 2026 debut Monday, completing just 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

Winston replaced Jaxson Dart (knee) with 9:51 remaining in the first quarter of Monday night's 28-6 loss to the Rams and completed 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while rushing twice for one yard.
Winston has enjoyed success in the past taking over for injured or demoted teammates, but Monday night was far from such an example. The veteran signal-caller consistently struggled against an invigorated Rams defense, taking two sacks and frequently working under duress. Winston's accuracy was also at a low point, and his one interception came in the end zone on a pass intended for Malik Nabers. Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports Dart has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL, so despite Monday night's struggles, Winston could be in line for at least one start in a Week 3 home matchup against the Titans on Sunday.

The veteran QB did end up making a pair of starts after Wilson was demoted and Dart was sidelined by a concussion, but Winston didn't do much to impress as a passer in those opportunities, and he completed the campaign in a backup role. Winston's contract was a two-year deal, so he could return as Dart's backup next season.

Winston took over the starting role for this past Sunday's loss to Green Bay and did fine, completing 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. However, there was never any doubt that Dart would resume starting duties when cleared to do so, and he appears to be in line to return against Detroit after returning to practice (albeit in a non-contact capacity) Wednesday. The rookie signal-caller remains in the NFL's concussion protocol, however, and in the unlikely event he's unable to be cleared by Sunday, Winston would be in line for another start.

Winston was serviceable against the Packers with 19-of-29 completions for 201 yards, no touchdowns and one interception, along with three carries for 10 yards and a touchdown, with a lost fumble. I would expect more volume against the Lions on the road, which could be positive and negative for Winston, but if he starts again for Dart then I like Winston as a low-end starter in deeper leagues. He should be added in all one-quarterback leagues for 1 percent of your remaining FAB and at least 5 percent in Superflex and two-quarterback leagues.

Winston was the third quarterback to enter the game for the Giants, behind starter Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart. The strong-armed Winston couldn't get anything going with New York's offense on his first two drives, but he led the team on an 11-play, 67-yard drive in his third and final series, which he culminated with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Gunner Olszewski and a subsequent two-point conversion pass to Thomas Fidone. Winston brings a second veteran presence to New York's QB corps, but with Wilson locked in as the starter and Dart representing the team's future at the position, there isn't a path for Winston to make a significant fantasy impact unless injuries or ineffectiveness cause a shakeup in the pecking order.
