Mac Jones QB | SF
49ers' Mac Jones: Practicing Thursday
Jones (knee) was in uniform for Thursday's practice but didn't attempt many throws, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
The 49ers appear to be taking it easy on Jones in the likely scenario that No. 1 QB Brock Purdy (toe) isn't able to play Sunday at Tampa Bay. Notably, Adrian Martinez was the only quarterback to throw during route-running work Thursday, per David Lombardi of SFStandard.com, so Jones seems destined to log a second consecutive limited session. Friday's practice report will be key to determining who will be under center for San Francisco this weekend.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Not practicing Thursday
Purdy (toe) didn't practice Thursday but was seen doing some conditioning work while wearing cleats, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Purdy has missed three of the last four contests due to a turf toe injury, and his lack of practice reps so far this week seems to indicate he's trending toward another absence Sunday at Tampa Bay. Coach Kyle Shanahan told David Lombardi of SFStandard.com on Wednesday that Purdy is "progressing," and the 49ers haven't considered placing the quarterback on injured reserve, which would carry with it a minimum four-game absence. As a result, even if Mac Jones ends up getting the Week 6 start under center for the 49ers, Purdy remains a candidate to play until the team officially rules him out for game day.

Lamar Jackson QB | BAL
Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Misses another practice Thursday
Jackson (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
With Jackson having yet to practice in any fashion since injuring his hamstring in the Ravens' Week 4 loss to the Chiefs, Jackson appears to be trending toward missing a second straight game Sunday against the Rams. If Jackson ends up being ruled out for the Week 6 contest, Cooper Rush would be on track for another starting turn for the Ravens before the team heads into a Week 7 bye.

Kyler Murray QB | ARI
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: No practice Thursday
Murray (foot) didn't practice Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Murray hasn't practiced so far this week due to the foot injury that forced him out for three snaps during this past Sunday's 22-21 loss to the Titans. He thus has one more opportunity to mix into drills Friday before Arizona potentially makes a ruling on his status for Week 6 action. If Murray sits out Sunday's game at Indianapolis, veteran signal-caller Jacoby Brissett is waiting in the wings to lead the Cardinals offense.

Tua Tagovailoa QB | MIA
Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Limited practice Wednesday
Tagovailoa (hip/left thumb) was limited at practice Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
Tagovailoa, who is coming off a 256-yard, three-TD effort in the Dolphins' 27-24 loss to the Panthers this past Sunday, is now managing two injury concerns ahead of this Sunday's contest against the Chargers. While so far there's nothing to suggest that the QB's Week 6 status is in any danger, Tagovailoa will likely need to practice fully by Friday in order to avoid carrying an injury designation into the weekend.

Mac Jones QB | SF
49ers' Mac Jones: Limited Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Jones (knee/oblique) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Jones endured a number of big hits and also dealt with dehydration during last Thursday's 26-23 overtime road win against the Rams, but he didn't miss any of the 49ers' 86 offensive snaps and completed 33 of 49 passes for 342 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Brock Purdy's lingering turf toe injury has afforded Jones three starts through five games this season, and Purdy remains sidelined at practice as of Wednesday. If Purdy requires more time to recover, Jones appears set to continue leading San Francisco's offense Sunday in Tampa Bay.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Not practicing Wednesday
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Purdy (toe) won't practice Wednesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Purdy aggravated a turf toe injury Week 4 against the Jaguars and missed last Thursday's win at the Rams. After the latter contest, Shanahan relayed to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Purdy was "week-to-week," and on Wednesday, Shanahan added that the quarterback is "progressing," and the 49ers haven't thought about placing him on injured reserve, according to David Lombardi of SFStandard.com. Purdy seems to be trending toward another absence Sunday in Tampa Bay, something that the team may confirm as soon as it posts its final Week 6 practice report Friday.

Lamar Jackson QB | BAL
Ravens' Lamar Jackson: Still not practicing
Jackson (hamstring) remained sidelined at practice Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Jackson didn't practice last week before being ruled out for this past Sunday's 44-10 loss to the Texans. At this stage, the star QB's Week 6 status is cloudy, with Ian Rapoport of NFL Network suggesting earlier Wednesday that Jackson seems to be facing an uphill battle to be available this weekend against the Rams. If he ends up out again, then Cooper Rush would presumably be in line for another start at QB for the Ravens, who will head into their bye week after facing Los Angeles.

Jake Browning QB | CIN
Bengals' Jake Browning: Giving way to Flacco on Sunday
Browning is set to move into a backup role with Joe Flacco having been named the starting QB for Sunday's game against the Packers, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
With Browning having gone 0-3 as a starter since taking over for franchise QB Joe Burrow (toe) -- who is on IR -- in Week 3, the Bengals traded for Flacco on Tuesday. Coach Zac Taylor then quickly made the change at signal-caller, while noting Wednesday, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, that Flacco's style "fits our style" and that the 40-year-old will take all the first-team QB reps ahead of Week 6 action.

Joe Flacco QB | CIN
Bengals' Joe Flacco: Named starter for Sunday
Coach Zac Taylor revealed Wednesday that Flacco will start Sunday's game against the Packers, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
The Bengals acquired Flacco from the Browns on Tuesday, and Taylor quickly named the veteran QB the starter for the 2-3 team, which has dropped three straight games. With Flacco moving into into the No. 1 signal-caller role, Jake Browning is in line to work in a backup capacity this weekend. Flacco thus represents an option for those in two-QB formats or who are looking for a bye week plug-in ahead of Week 6 action.
