Hunter Dekkers QB | NO
Hunter Dekkers: Back with New Orleans
Dekkers signed with the Saints' practice squad Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Dekkers will now remain in New Orleans after being cut from the team's practice squad just three days prior. The 24-year-old has yet to appear in an NFL game after throwing for 3,806 yards, 32 touchdowns and 10 interceptions across 13 games for Iowa Western in 2024.

Adrian Martinez QB | SF
49ers' Adrian Martinez: Elevated Saturday
Martinez was elevated from the 49ers' practice squad to the active roster Saturday.
Martinez signed with the 49ers' practice squad after failing to make the Jets' 53-man roster in late August. Brock Purdy (shoulder) and Kurtis Rourke (knee) are both expected to miss San Francisco's Week 2 matchup against the Saints, so Martinez's signing ensures depth at quarterback. He's expected to back up Mac Jones on Sunday.

Mac Jones QB | SF
49ers' Mac Jones: Getting first start under Shanahan
Jones will start Sunday's game at New Orleans in place of Brock Purdy (toe), Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
There have long been rumors about Kyle Shanahan preferring Jones to Trey Lance -- but getting overruled by GM John Lynch -- ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft. The ship that Jones is captaining now isn't nearly as pretty as the one he would've been joining back then, as the 49ers currently have TE George Kittle (hamstring) and WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) on injured reserve, with LT Trent Williams (knee) and WR Jauan Jennings (shoulder) listed as questionable. Jones gets a decent matchup, at least, playing indoors against a Saints team that's less talented than even this injury-riddled version of the 49ers. Reports suggest Jones is likely to start multiple games, although the Niners waited until Friday to rule Purdy out for Week 2.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Officially ruled out
Purdy (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game at New Orleans, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Reports suggest he'll likely miss multiple games, but the 49ers waited until Friday to rule Purdy out for Week 2. Mac Jones will step in as the starting quarterback, manning an offense that won't have TE George Kittle (hamstring) or WR Brandon Aiyuk (knee) and may also be missing LT Trent Williams (questionable, knee) and WR Jauan Jennings (questionable, shoulder). Purdy's next chance to play is Week 3 against the Cardinals, although it doesn't sound likely even if the Niners leave things open-ended.

Tanner McKee QB | PHI
Eagles' Tanner McKee: Listed as questionable
McKee (thumb) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
McKee got in a limited practice Friday, giving him a chance to back up Jalen Hurts versus Kansas City. If McKee is unable to suit up, Sam Howell will once again handle QB2 duties for the Eagles.

Jayden Daniels QB | WAS
Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Pair of TDs in Week 2 loss
Daniels completed 24 of 42 passes for 200 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding seven rushes for 17 yards in the Commanders' 27-18 loss to the Packers on Thursday. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.
Daniels' final line was serviceable from a fantasy perspective, but the second-year signal-caller compiled a portion of his numbers against a Packers defense playing to protect a relatively comfortable lead. He managed to avoid any turnovers and made matters somewhat interesting by helming a 10-play, 65-yard march that he capped with a 10-yard touchdown toss to Deebo Samuel in the latter portion of the fourth quarter, while adding a two-point conversion toss to Luke McCaffrey on the following play. Daniels previously also connected with Zach Ertz from 20 yards out for his first scoring pass of the night early in the fourth quarter, and he was a bit more productive when targeting Terry McLaurin (5-48-0) than in the opener against the Giants. Daniels and the Commanders now get some extra time to prepare for a Week 3 home matchup against the Raiders on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Jordan Love QB | GB
Packers' Jordan Love: Just shy of 300 yards in win
Love completed 19 of 31 passes for 292 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding three rushes for 12 yards in the Packers' 27-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday night.
Love's 9.4 yards per attempt tells the story of his ability to pierce the Commanders secondary for chunk plays throughout the night, despite losing Jayden Reed to a shoulder injury in the first quarter on a touchdown pass nullified by penalty. Love's notable completions included 23- and 57-yard connections with tight ends Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft, respectively, as well as a 37-yard strike to Malik Heath. Meanwhile, Romeo Doubs (five yards) and Kraft (eight yards) were on the receiving end of Love's pair of scoring tosses, and the quarterback finished the night having connected with six different pass catchers overall. Love now has a 4:0 TD:INT and six completions of 20-plus yards through two games, affording him massive momentum heading into a Week 3 road matchup against the Browns on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Josh Johnson QB | WAS
Commanders' Josh Johnson: Emergency QB for Week 2
Johnson (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Packers but will serve as the Commanders' emergency third-string quarterback.
As the emergency quarterback, Johnson will be allowed to see the field Thursday only if Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota become unavailable due to injury, illness or ejection.
-
Tanner McKee QB | PHI
Eagles' Tanner McKee: Misses Thursday's practice
McKee (thumb) did not participate in Thursday's practice.
McKee continues to be sidelined due to a fractured right thumb that he suffered during training camp. He's missed the first two practices of the week and is unlikely to be cleared for the Eagles' Week 2 clash against the Chiefs on Sunday. Sam Howell will continue to serve as Jalen Hurts' backup for as long as McKee is out of action.

Brock Purdy QB | SF
49ers' Brock Purdy: Could miss 2-to-5 weeks
Purdy, whom head coach Kyle Shanahan has called a "longshot" to play Sunday against the Saints, could miss 2-to-5 weeks with a turf toe variant, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
While Shanahan has yet to rule Purdy -- who is also managing a left shoulder injury -- out for Week 2, the coach acknowledged Wednesday that the quarterback's toe injury could sideline him for multiple weeks. Added context regarding Purdy's status should arrive Thursday, but in any case, all signs point to backup Mac Jones drawing at least one start while Purdy recovers from his injuries.
